UCLA just offered Gary Smith 6'2" 320 pound starting DT from Duke. He has three years of eligibility remaining. He’s played in 19 games over the last two seasons. Nice to get some depth with actual game experience.
@art_vandele Art, it is completely legal as long as you are not a booster. Now, we know you are not a UCLA booster, you are simply a philanthropist. We can argue in a court of law that it's not the same thing, that you actually hate football and think it's for fags, and that you only donate to provide educational opportunities for blacks oppressed by whitey. And even if we lose it'll be tied up in court with appeals for years, by which time the kid will be making millions in the NFL. So, by all means, write the kid one big bastard of a check. Don't forget to sign your name.
The Transfer Portal is out of control. What is to keep coaches from poaching players at other schools? Some kid from Duke wants to now come to UCLA? Chip Kelly did this with Jay Toia last year. Burns me to know end to see this rampant cheating.
all we gotta do is give that kid money... can i reach out and offer him money? is that legal?

Which is it? Did they offer or did they get?
