Aranda alongside his OLB coach Tim Tibesar were named Linebacker Coaches of the Year for 2015 by FootballScoop.[26]Â
Over Aranda's three-year span as defensive coordinator at Wisconsin his defense ranked first nationally in total defense, second in scoring defense, third in pass defense and fourth in run defense.[27]Â
His final season with the Badgers his defense came in first in scoring defense, allowing just 13.1 points per game.[28]
Sorry, my numbers were scoring defense. I think total yards can sometimes be misleading because the opposing team's play selection can depend on how many points they are behind. With that having been said, in 2018 even though their total yards allowed was #30, their yards per play allowed was 4.8, which was 3rd best in the SEC behind Miss St (4.0) and Alabama (4.7) and #24 overall. Their 2019 team was still good for 5.0 YPP, 29th in the country and 4th in the conference behind Georgia (4.1), Alabama (4.8) and Auburn (4.9). Given that Georgia has the luxury of not playing in the SEC West, being slightly behind Bama who has been the gold standard in defense, despite the coaching instability that seems to plague LSU is pretty impressive to me.
LSU was loaded with talent...more than Miss St and probably more than BAMA on Defense...lots of great defensive players on those teams but still no better than #30 and #32. His defense at Baylor this year sucks..
LOL

SC needs turnkey DC with no baggage
Again, not my first choice. If we're going for the more tenured DC, I'd prefer Will Muschamp. Aranda the greater possibility imo.
