I remember after Helton was fired that I threw Aranda's name into the pot of potential replacement for Helton and at the time a couple of folks on this board thought i was nuts for mentioning him. One thought he was still an assistant the other thought he hadn't done shet to deserve even a look...my take was he was one of the best DC's in CFB and had Baylor playing disciplined football, a great demeanor on the sideline and had something that none of the hc's at USC since Pete Carroll had...an NC ring although not as a HC....add the California connection and seeing what he's accomplished in less then two years I think he deserves being one of the finalists..
Aranda ha s some solid wins, a great reputation and ties to southern California. Now a coaching star of the year for sure and he appears to be getting better. He would be a great get by USC and a great fit too. Right SC?
