While USC proudly leads Notre Dame (our biggest and best rival by far) as the two schools with the most Heismans, the little gutties actually won one of these back in 1967 when Gary Boban was schlepping his way to the Trophy even though USC kicked his ass (literally) and famously ruined utla on the field 21-20.
The bruhorns actually used to care about winning awards in those days, long, long ago before many of us were born. Since the little gutties haven't won jack in football since the early '50s, they don't matter, so they don't care.
Hey crybaby, wah, wah, wah. Just why is it that Gary Boban was your last Heisman winner in '67? Why none since? Oh, that's right. You little gutties don't care about football trophies, or awards, obviously, or even winning. You don't even care about ever getting to the Rose Bowl again, you've been absent for so long. You know, the one that counts.
And since you're such a self-proclaimed utla little gutty history retard, you must tell us all what Prothro always carried inside his black briefcase on the sidelines. Was it an old pack of Trojan rubbers given to him by prostitute lover Red Sanders? Was it his special baby blue and gold-rimmed set of little gutty bridge cards? Was it the 30 packs of non-filter cigs he smoked every week that eventually killed him? Or in the end, was he carrying around that special old used Dennis Dummit autographed jockstrap that Dennis gave him in remembrance of losing to USC 14-12 against the Wild Bunch?
Their last natty was 1989. They haven't won a New Year's Day bowl game in 30 years. Not one. I believe USC has won 2 natties and 8 New Year's Day bowls since then.
Nice guy on the old Ketchup&Mustard board (name escapes me, back in early 2000's) used to post some cool historical stories with old photos ((ND arriving at union station , (may have been called something else back then)) before the SC/ND tilt. Always found those entertaining
Totally agree on Ricky Bell in 75. Although his stats were so much better than Griffin's, I'm sure he got hurt by the team's going into the tank as soon as McKay announced he was taking the Tampa Bay job.
Griffin did not do his best work on the biggest stages. He certainly didn't need a career award as a senior after having won as a junior, especially in a field with so many other worthy candidates.
Griffin should be jail. The only reason he won is they had yet to reform the voting process. 70% of the voters were in the east and Midwest. Now there are 5 districts with 20% each, east, Midwest, south, midlands and the west. Still
60% east of the Mississippi but better than 70% in the east and Midwest.
It has been a lot longer since ucla won their single disputed Heisman. What 70 years?

Notre Dame plays for natties. Not silly awards, guys.
worse than that for the Irish, USC has won 8, Bush Included, to 1 over the Irish since 1964.

pretty sure that Carson, Leinart, and Caleb all won the Heisman at the expense of the Irish
that fact alone has to sting a little
