is he just a quarterback whisperer or can he actually put a well coached undermanned team on the field.
The buck stops with him. The offense played well. They played clean. They didn't fumble. No false starts. few penalties. With a quarterback didn't take forever to get the snap off and run around in unpredictable directions, the offensive line looked competent.
They couldn't run the football. That was a bummer and should be the focus of off season strength training. I don't care who would have been back there, he had no where to go. Louisville sold out to stop the run. And they did. And they paid for it with consistant small chunk pass plays.
Moss played better than anyone expected. He's a really really smart system guy with a decent arm that did what he was coached to do. The receivers, the deepest and most talented on the team got to shine because the ball came out quick and they did their thing to make Moss look like a star. I can remember only one brain dead drop.
The defense didn't look confused. They simplified everything. Who has been calling for that? No stupid wrist bands and complex stunts and exotic coverages. Just basic assignment football.
Most impressive was that the kids wrapped up. Containment remains an issue. And linebacker play still needs talent to go with better coaching. But the D didn't give up ridiculous embarrassing huge plays.
They even simplified special teams. No more trying for a turnover and giving up huge returns.
Imagine that. The basics. Fundamentals. Kids playing that weren't fixated on their futures.
Better to start fixing the defense 2 years late than not at all.
Sure a lot of things went SC's way. So freaking what. It was about time. Not having pac 12 refs played a big part in that.
I asked for a well coached team. So over all CLR gets and A for the day. sc
I was struck early on that this was the best tackling I have seen all year.
Moss has a good arm, makes quick reads and is deadly accurate. This was not a Chuck n Duck passing offense but a go for jugular down field passing attack. 4 long td drives and when moss got the short field, he converted to Td 's not the dreaded field goal. The freshman tackle from Az played well.
Half the team yesterday were freshman and red shirt freshman who never played all year. First time I have seen a USC team play in a minor bowl and play like they really wanted to win. Props to the players and the coaches.
Now we just need to get bigger and stronger on the D-line. I think the online will be okay with a qb that they know is going to get rid of the ball fast. And please when you get to the line, run the damn play called and don't make the line bond their stance for 10-12 seconds. Of course they are going to jump. coach LR in here irs a mediocre team that won 11 games because of CW and turnovers. We returned to the mean this year with a schedule jerrymandered to destroy our season with all the tough games backloaded. I thought we played Oregon and Washington close. But the back loaded scheduled really hurt us. Fck the Pac 12. Welcome to the ACC Stanford and Cal. Welcome to the Little 12 ,Az ASU Utah and Colorado, welcome to the Pac 2 OSU and WSU. Ucla Oregon and Washington owe us big time. Fck the other schools. JMHO
Two things.
You challenged CLR? Hahahaha. Like he knows who you are or cares a lick about your opinion. Here's help. He doesn't.
They wore wristbands. Hate it as you might.
After watching the game what really jumped out to me was the difference in team speed on both sides of the ball. SC was simply faster and clearly had the better athletes.
RAH RAH! Nothing really changed. Talent matters. SC is more talented at every position than Louisville. 208 and CW didn't shoot the team in the foot. Trend or lucky? Moss is an improvement relative to less dumb mistakes. I'll believe 208 has learned something when we play someone with equal or more talent (which is A LOT of teams given how bad 208 is at recruiting.)
