Here’s my issue with those Roughing/Targeting calls.
If it was targeting, then the 15yrs absolutely stands.
But when every targeting call is reversed, as in no targeting….how can there be a penalty?
The question also has to be asked….what are P12 refs using as criteria for targeting?
What are they seeing live, that no one else in other conferences are seeing?
I watch a lot of B12 football, unless it’s leading with the crown of the helmet and it makes contact with anotger player’s helmet…IOW, obvious calls…they never call targeting.
Dropping the helmet down and using it to hit any area of the body according to one of the so called TV officiating experts is targeting. They then showed a slow motion call on targeting and the defensive player not only hit the QB in the chest and face mask but the film review reversed the targeting call.....the targeting penalty is one of the worse rules in football..simply because the ref's don't call it consistently and the video replays don't call it consistently either...the hit on Bryce Young early in the Tennessee game was a no call...and he got hit exactly to the definition of targeting ..heard an announcer this weekend going off on that no call and his partner finally told him to shut up about it..
Who gives a shit about the penalties? The Nike talent was overwhelmingly better than what the Bruins had. The Ducks could have been flagged 15 times for 130 yards and it wouldn't have made a difference.
I've been saying it all week, and I hate to be right: Chip's approach to recruiting is what lost that game. Pure and simple. Nike is winning strictly with talent, which only proves -- once again -- just how talented Georgia (or the likes of which) really is.
The game has changed forever. Maybe the trogans can buy their way into the upper echelons of CFB once again, but UCLA will never be able to afford it. Nike sure as fuck can.

Ref excuse? Really? Let it go.
