I agree with Oregon's approach. SC is trying to do the same. My only point is what 3 or 4 star recruits should consider when choosing between talent loaded programs and other less talent laden programs. The 3 and 4 star recruits at Oregon certainly get reps in practice against highly talented players, but game reps are where the real growth happens. Oregon will do very well in any case. Just my thoughts as a member of the Arrogant Nation. I wish your team all the worst. LOL!
TEE, you are missing the point. Your firsyt round picks stuff is misleading and also not accurate, in that Oregon has had first round picks. Oregon is loaded with talent and that bodes well for their program, but most 3 and 4 star recruits have dreams of playing in the NFL. To achieve that goal, they need to develop, and that means playing time, reps. For these recruits, the chances of developing their skills diminishes if they choose programs, like Oregon, or Ohio State, where there are a plethora of 5 star recruits. Many of those 3 apnd 4 star recruits will still choose the winning programs, but they will find it more difficult to succeed. The NIL helps the top programs to fill their rosters with the 3 and 4 star players, but PT is an uphill battle for them.
What , that freshman from CA can’t star at Oregon. ? No fresman are starring at Oregon. Just not the ones from CA . Besides. , you could argue no one is starring at Oregon. Not one player is a projected first round draft pick.
Those come from OSU, Michigan, Alabama.
He’s has no point. Just a meaningless statement.
PS. How many projected first round picks this year from SC? Where’s SCs development. ?
Newsflash: In the era of the transfer portal the best play no matter how they got there. Case-in-point a 13-1 season in 2024, and a 12-2 season in 2023.
If you're regularly playing more than a handful of your true freshman players, you're probably doing something wrong.....lol!
BTW there couldn't be a better name than "Arrogant Nation" for some of you Trojans... 😉
Well said LA, and the arrogant nation comment is a good one. Nevertheless, Pasadena's post raises a very good point. Players from CA or elsewhere should consider their chances of being developed when choosing a school. Schools that are loaded with talent make it more difficult for new recruits to get the playing time they need to perfect their skills. Oregon, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia and Alabama are loaded with talent, and I believe SC is headed that way, but if I were a young 3 or 4 star, I'd hope I would have the wisdom to make the right choice.
Agree with the point in general, for sure, GTrojan. (And GREAT to see you posting a lot on the WW these days!!)
But I don't think one can argue players aren't getting developed simply because they sat their true freshman or true sophomore years. Yes, Oregon does defer often to the experience of players from the transfer portal. But I think Lanning knows pretty well you have to build a team from the bottom up, meaning you need to develop the young players, and not end up relying on the portal too heavily except to fill out a few holes in your line up here and there.
Case in point, we don't expect any of Oregon's 2025 class to contribute right away except for Offord at CB and Moore at WR.... both 5* and both look like they can contribute right away. But it doesn't mean the others in their class aren't or won't get developed, I don't think.
How many true sophomores are starting on other teams in the Top 10? That would be a great question for someone to answer to help to see if I'm being too myopic here....lol!

They’re freshman. On a Senior led team. Good Lord.
Plus, the best players don’t come from CA, sans QBs.
don't worry. phil has spots available for them in indonesia working on the other end of the slave labor process...
