Yeah, that's 6 completions. in 18 attempts. And yet he continues to go downfield. Just like Kedon and JT used to. Need to use the underneath routes. Get his confidence back up. Throw to his backs. Clearly OSU must be taking away downfield stuff because the USC WR aren't that fast and must be coming up to jam the RB out of the backfield. And that's what man coverage looks like in a DC's wet dream. You're just not supposed to be able to do that to USC. And we now know that as much as Caleb CAN run he really doesn't like to or want to and will avoid it at all costs.
If Williams wasn't scared of contact he would take off 5-6 times a half and make the D pay. Normally you don't want that but tonight he needs to stop worrying about smelling good and break a sweat and get some contact and bleed a little. he likes being a video game QB. Tonight he needs to be a tough guy. Personally I don't see it. Tune in
osu was his worst game. They sat 8 in deep zone coverage and frustrated him.
I think he wasn't given the freedom to take off earlier in the season. Dad or Coach, who knows? He alluded to this in one of his interviews when he was he was told to start using his "athleticism".
I don't think he was ever scared of contact, far from it. He took on anyone.
Seems like he thought he could do what he wanted and has been coached well since then. He learned how to slide. He learned how to go out of bounds or throw it away. He started taking what the defense was giving him. and he won the heisman.
He's got a lot more to learn if he thinks he can do what he does in college at the next level. sc
It appears Caleb improved a lot after that post
