Hate it. Rent a player unretired HOF jersey. What's Palmer supposed to say? It was gonna happen anyway. Whore move, really.

Retire players to the HOF….let the jerseys stay on the field, where they belong. Not getting dusty in the rafters.

Interesting comments from Ryan and his discussion with Darnell Bing. Ryan mentioned when he asked Bing about Addison getting Palmers number..zBing was hesitant to answer but Ryan said Bing did say that Bing regrets asking for Mike Garrett's number and said he didn't understand the reverence and meaning of having asked for a USC greats number until he learned about the tradition and everything behind it and if he had a do over it sounded like he wouldn't have done it.

As far as Addison Ryan mentioned his getting that number is significantly different then a Darnell Bing HS kid...Addison is an All American and a big time award winner that joined the team and brings a certain amount reputation as a college player with him

Carson had nothing to do with it. They just did it. They would have asked him but they ran out of crayons and pictures to try to explain it to him.

I haven't been to a USC football game for years. I assume they still display the retired jerseys, right? Maybe they should add the names to the back of the uni's.

Addison will only play for USC for 1 year. What do you then, re-retire the number?

The problem is non existent so why make a big deal out of it. You do know there are only 100 numbers total and when you start retiring them you may run out of numbers on a roster and to add to that...USC gives the same numbers to during the same season on the roster to both offensive and defensive players at the same time...in other words if say an offensive player wins a Heisman what do you do to the other player on Defense that has the same number? So who gives a damn as we all know who wore the retired numbers..and I suppose if you want to make a big deal on it..put their names on the back of the jersey since every tradition USC has is being changed....that alone fixes the number issue for some but creates another problem for others.. by the way my understanding is no one has been given Reggie Bush's number since he left...

Former Trojan Petros Papadickless was absolutley livid over this. Saying what else is Carson supposed to say and that it would look bad if Palmer said "no"..Petros later mentioned that the same thing happened to Mike Garret for Darnell Bunghole, also a current QB Brandon Hance was forced to give up his number for for Whitney Lewis .
