Kelly's new contract calls for him to make $6.1 million each of the next two seasons before bumping up to $6.2 million in each of the last three seasons of the contract.
His buyout calls for Kelly to be paid $8.5 million if he's fired before December 2023, $4.27 million if he's fired before December 2024, and nothing if he's fired after that.
And to think the great Dick Vermeil who won everything at UCLA made 35K a season.
I think I’m the only UCLA fan who remembers when UCLA would be lucky to run for 80 yards in a game. With Chip, that’s a good quarter.
it's good to be king
even if you're only king of the PAC 6
So Chip has 2 years before his buyout goes to zero. It’s a 2 year deal to help with recruiting. Freshman QB in 2023 points to a tough year. Then 2024 is his make it or break it year.
Makes my day!
Jarmond commented "We are proud of the success last year, while its an anomaly in a long trend of sucking, our team was almost good. The 8th yr QB did slightly better than average. While some claim that Kelly hates recruiting and is a big fat jerk, we need to remember he was ninnovative a couple decades ago and almost good enough for Oregon ot be pretty good."
A Christmas present for Waldorf.
