Surprisingly there isn't a category for most uniform combinations. Shorted USC @ few 'ships . Heismans should have been added as a category in my opinion. USC with 8 , soon to be 9.
If Michigan is all that, how could they be 10-18 in Major Bowls? Compare that to USC's 28-11. Hell, compare SC's 28-11 to any of the other teams. You would think those "Major Bowls" would pit good/great teams at the end of the year, not an over-ranked team in Week 2.
Oooh, thanks BB! I love reminiSCing about ancient history too. Can't talk about ancient history without mentioning Trojans, of course! Congrats on your very impressive showing throughout the centuries.
But me for some reason I enjoy the more recent past, the present and the future over ancient history. Color me--and recruits--crazy, I guess. Somehow I think recruits are more into that as well....along with the uniforms.... 😆
Hey, not an issue for you Trojan fans, of course. But if you went college for 4 years and the average # of wins per year across that period was 3.5, you'd be elated to now have your football program be labeled Tier 3/Great. 😎 It's all about perspective.
BTW your summary is off there, Gator.
In talking recent history, I'd say the Trojan 10 year period from 1992 to 2001 was quite a bit worse than 2013 to 2022.
68-50-3 vs 81-44-0
So not sure if that is a true reflection of USC's "worst"...recency bias just makes it feel like the worst perhaps?
And 2013 to 2022 is not Oregon's best 10 year run. 2005 to 2014 was...
I feel your pain. I'm sure we've discussed before my first trip to the State of Oregon, mid-October 1980, the day after Mt. St. Helens blew. I had a Friday deposition in Portland and an opportunity to drive down to Eugene to see SC come in riding an unbeaten streak of 25 games or so. I passed on the opportunity and flew home Friday night, missing what must have been a scintillating 7-7 tie. You were probably in the student section for that one.
You are right about the records, of course, even though your decades are pretty arbitrary. And it's not recency bias on my part. I used to consider the low point of SC football to be 1983-2000, from the end of JR I to the arrival of Pete Carroll. I examined that period in the context of discussions with my UCLA friends, who considered that the Golden Age of their program, and SC's worst compared quite favorably to UCLA's best.
When I refer to the last 10 years (or so) as SC's "worst," I am speaking subjectively, since the decade was dominated by the malign presence of Clay Helton, worse than whom there cannot be.
more likely the resulte of a couple of punishing probations where SC was the NCAAs whipping boy for doing what everyone else was doing, if not much less
losing 30 schollies for "agent" [Lake is really a con man] tampering is just ridiculous when Longhorn, bama, and MANY other players and their parents were openly driving booster supplied Escalades to the mall to spend bags of booster supplied cash while openly bragging about it
by example, for those who aren't bama booster favorites
the practice parking lot is always full of loaner vehicles from St Nick's dealerships (plural) a quick google search will reveal the brands
not to mention the academic fraud documented during NCAA investigations into institutionalized programs set up by the domers, Auburn, LSU, etc.
Many years ago, I took my wife to a Sunday double feature; we saw Blaze (for me) and Steel Magnolias (for her). Both movies were set in Lousiana.
Both movies included a scene in which a character was drinking Coke from a bottle and dropping things into the bottle before taking a swig. Figuring this had to be a Southern thing, or maybe a Louisiana thing, I asked a friend, who grew up in Shreveport. What were they dropping in the Coke, I asked.
Peanuts, he said. And he hadn't seen either movie.

USC has 11 NCs, Bama is a few too high. Really somewhere 12-14.
Surprised at USC's low total of top 10 finishes. Feast or famine in South Central, I guess.
Georgia already sliding back into mediocrity?
pass the boiled peanuts
