I think he's a pretty good coach, good staff, best players in the conference. But when things get tight at the end of games his intensity adds to the stress of the situation. Often you'll see coaches force a smile as if to say we have his under control. But Lanning is gritting his teeth, imploring, yelling at players from over the position coach's X's & O's speil. They are already playing hard, they need to think about the assignments, don't get too jacked up. He's still acts like a young position coach in those situations.

Lanning is still learning on the job.
So was Cristobal.
Somehow I think Lanning will end up the better student of the two.
As noted, give me an aggressive, reckless coach over one who plays it safe. That's one reason I always liked Big-Balls Chip. (No relation to our Big Ballss here on the WW!)
TEE, you think Chip was a much better coach than Lanning?
Fuck me. If that's true, please explain to me how Chip became so retarded in such a short period of time.
He's an idiot. You take fgs in what you know will be a tight game at the end. You punt from midfield with time running out. This isn't the SEC where 90% of the teams haven't won the conference in decades and know they are only there as schedule fodder.
Who knows if he is the answer long term But he's bringing in good classes. Chip was a much better coach but he couldn't recruit. Mario was a better recruiter but a worse coach. Not to many Sabans out there who can do both.
Bottom line is there is only one NC. And everyone else is a failure.
