Ah...gun control! What can't it do? Just take a look at the catastrophe that is Israeli gun control for a glimpse into the reality of disarming a law-abiding people. Instead of arming its citizens, Israel decided that the armed forces and the police could defend the country from external threats.

They couldn't, and hundreds of innocents are dead because they were not armed. It's simple...an armed citizenry is the first defense against everything: crime...terrorism...foreign invaders...and tyrants!

Tyranny...maybe that's the real issue that terrifies those in power! Could it be as simple as that/ The extraordinarily unlikely possibility that an armed citizenry would depose an totalitarian government is enough for those in power to deprive us of our natural, God-given right to self defense?

Because I can't think of another explanation, other than our "elites" are actively seeking the chaos of uncontrolled crime and the breakdown of civil society.

This is not a UO/UW football issue. Lanning is a public figure and has a platform. Did you notice that I lumped him in with other 'celebrities' and 'self declared elites'? Just like I said it was in poor judgment when Mike Leach announced he supported President Trump. Mass shooting are not something anyone takes lightly and are not isolated to just this country, but gun control will NOT solve the problem. The majority of Americans are tired of agendas and are tired of anything Lanning or any other 'celebrities' believeing what they say will change anyone's views.

Again, it is the platform. Bud Lite should have continued to do what they did best: Brewing beer, but some just don't learn from other's mistakes.

And, this is America. We don't need any 'lessons' from Europe.

Exactly. These "public figures" often make me vomit with their misguided and egotistical self-important assumptions that we fans, movie goers, ticket buyers, etc, actually give a crap what they believe in, or even remotely buy into their often idiotic agendas.

Isn't it enough we all provide the very base for their fragile employment? Without us, half of them would be parking cars, cleaning toilets or selling shoes. It's a laughable part of America.

Like I give a shit whose political ass or Prince's hand Oprah wants to kiss. Just give away cars, stick with a diet for once, and revel in your book club for our amusement.

Sad that the Huskies can't simply win on the field.... You know they realize they are doomed with a team that has bupkis beyond a QB and 2-3 WRs when they have to call out a coach for making a very positive public awareness msessage, and one that affects ALL US citizens....those that love guns and those that hate them...

Funny, but more that a couple of times now all you can hang your hat on is your schadenfreude about UW's 'future' because the present didn't go your way. "Simply can't win on the field"? Only in the duck universe is 8-0 not winning. I know you are still sore after 36-33 but why do you continue to say such stupid things like that?

Will UW be as good next season? Probably not.

Will UW still have enough talent and coaching to make it 3 in a row? Yes.
