Where did I ever say "NIL has improved the game"?

I only said that the game has improved due to continual advances, specifically in terms of how to determine a champion. NIL is just a side effect of the changing times of those who feel sharing the ever-increasing revenue with the kids brought about by the increase in popularity, playoffs and other factors for the sport is more equitable these days rather than simply giving them books & board & schooling and calling it good.

Look, I get it that USC fans whistfully wish for the '60s/'70s/'80s when you ruled college football with unlimited scholarships, more localized recruiting and no social media to help advance the popularity of other less fortunate football programs. I'd probably feel the same way if I were a Trojan. But times change, for better or for worse. But they do change. Adapt and conquer or go the way of Long Beach State football. I do think it's a positive on some level that kids are being compensated, but right now it's the wildwest with such things like NIL, and that's not good at all for the sport.

I've said it for months/years on here, even though Oregon is among those benefiting most from NIL right now, it's not sustainable, and shouldn't be sustainable. There has got to be a better way.

We're not going back to leather helmets. But we also shouldn't outright ban the sport for being too dangerous. There are middle grounds I feel we all can agree on in time. Both in terms of safely and in terms of NIL/compensating players.

But, yeah, if you want to continue to put words in my mouth, it's all good. You're still one of my fav posters on here. 🙂

Times are a-changing, Waldo. There are kids who won't sniff the NFL or more than maybe $50k while in college, and where a degree will matter.

For others there's the NFL and/or life-changing money while in college. It's America. It's capitalism. Even if it's not 1980 anymore. And I'm good with that.

You keep posting variations of the same thing. I get it. But I don't agree. All of the things that make college football exciting are disappearing. To me, it's not about the W-L nearly as much as it is about the experience. We used to have something in common with the players that took the field, at least I know I did at UCLA. Nowadays these guys have no connection to the university whatsoever. If you're okay with that then be okay with that. I'm not.

Furthermore, I don't agree that these "poor" kids all came from nothing. Some of them did, but to me this is all indicative of just where America is heading -- instant gratification and no long-term look toward the future. No real solid foundation, and certainly a lot less loyalty and integrity.

How many deplorable shitheads have we seen in the NFL in the past 20 years? And how many more are we going to see moving forward in college? If they're all little more than free-agents, the Trumpian answer is...A LOT. I just don't want CFB to be only a NFL minor league, and that is exactly what it's becoming. That may be a sign of the times, but I don't have to like it.
