Hoping to make up for the loss of Troy Frankin, even though Tez Johnson is returning for 2024.

Are you joking? The only person on this board I recall stating which NC games mattered was you. Please correct me if I'm wrong.... wasn't it you who said playing for the NC in the modern era, or BCS era, is what really counted? And btw, Pete Carroll is not the only USC head coach to play for AND WIN a NC.

Yes, I do remember several USC fans bashing your school for not WINNING a natty, but don't remember them do it for playing in one..... Words matter

Lost in translation. I simply am making the point that a national championship appearance does matter on some level especially relative to the school that has made it that far. Java states UW making a NC game is a big deal and should be a big deal for UW. Same for Oregon. But it tends to be dismissed as such when it's noted that Oregon has been to 2 of them.

I get why it shouldn't matter much to a USC fan, you have 11 NC trophies for goodness sake and God knows how many appearances! But to ducks and Huskies, it does matter and it should. Probably my bad - I thought Trojans were generally dismissive here of Oregon's "relative" success. And again, I get why you would be relative to your own amazing success. But when factoring in that it's Oregon, it's pretty remarkable....even with a rich uncle on the sidelines.

But see, we duckies (or at least this one) is still suffering from PTSD from our somewhat recent history of 2 win seasons and viewing 5-6 wins as reason for joy. It would have been completely inconceivable to predict Oregon would ever even make an NC game back when I was a student at the UO.

Thinking maybe we quackers need to seek out professional therapy.... 😏

National championship appearances do matter, regardless of which team we're talking about. All due respect, but I think you take things out of context at times.

No one can deny Oregon's success on the field. The fact of the matter is no program will be considered "elite" or "blue blood" or whatever you want to call it until they win it all. It's not just USC fans saying it. Those arguments take place everyday across the country in the college football world. We don't make the rules.
