So PT just posted about the Nike stock. Do you think that has anything to do with the fact USC was able to take a 2026 qb from UO? I ask because it’s usually Ore taking from USC (last 10 years or so). Also read about the Ore de commit, Bott Molitano and how he has high interest in USC. Not trashing, genuine question. Is Oregon pulling back a little on NIL? What have you heard?
Uncle Phil has lost half his wealth Stock is down 55%. But he’s in his 90s. Being worth 50 billion or a 100 billion at this point doesn’t matter.
Other schools are just upping the ante with NIL. So Ducks can’t just outbid everyone. Contrary to belief, Ducks don’t have unlimited NIL. If they did they would just double the highest bidder. You think Curtis would go to Georgia if the Ducks offered him 10 million/ yr?
Not pulling back at all, just Division Street (Oregon's NIL collective) is very smart with their money. And Oregon is very specific in their wants/needs.
My understanding is that Lanning was more than happy to let number 8 QB Jonas Williams flip from Oregon to SC knowing we have either number 1 QB Jared Curtis or number 4 Ryder Lyons in the fold. (Based on 247 composite ratings). If Georgia gets Curtis, we get Lyons. It's neck & neck with Georgia currently. And Ryder is riding out the situation (pun absolutely intended).
For Bott, he wanted to play OT, and Oregon wanted him for defense. Thus he left and we let him go without any fuss. Already have much more highly-regarded OTs in our crosshairs. Would have been great to have him on the DL, but that's not where he wants to be. You Trojans will get a good one (at least on the DL, not sure about OT).
Simple explanations, Bradley. But not the most exciting explanations.
And I agree it's much more fun for opponents to think that because NIKE is currently below water it's causing Oregon and it's NIL program to drown as well. 🙂
247 has Ryder Lyons going to USC with a 100% probability. Seems like far-fetched odds at this point in time, but his brother Walker is #2 on the depth chart at tight end. That's most likely the biggest factor in the predictions. Whoever gets him, he wont enroll til 2027.
