Guessing theyre set up differently. Newby is reported at 6’3 200lbs. He’s very young, so I’m going to assume he will be able to pack on weight. Gentry is 6’6” and 200 lbs. I’ve seen 2 interviews where he stated it’s extremely difficult for him to gain weight.….. also didn’t know Gentry was that fast. Very athletic, but was unaware he had track speed.
Good get. Interestingly Newby said last week he would take his visits before announcing a commitment, then reverses course and commits. Given all the recent commits I’m guessing the coaches are pushing kids to commit now.
Not sure what the recruiting strategy is this year, but I have heard they are selling a new type of defense (don’t have any further details). I also believe (based on rumors) that USC has finally up’d their NIL game. All that being said, I think it’s possible the staff is pushing SOME kids to commit now, but certainly not all of them. IOW, the 5/high 4 stars are asked nicely. Everyone knows those players have options.
Yup. Guessing USC has figured out that they are going to have to take the NIL world seriously if they truly want to compete. Look for the duckies to whine some more. Very Rich.
Aggressive and athletic. Just needs to add weight. He has 1.5 years before he gets to USC.
