Reminds me of when I had to go to the mound to pull my son in a championship game. Even worse for him, I had to bring in his older brother, who is a clown (the future marine) and he joked around and won the thing, blowing bubbles the whole time. Anyway, I go to the mound and he's been walking everyone. He's POUNDING the inside part of the plate super consistent just like we teach and he's not getting the calls. At all. Frankly the ump was being a bit of a di-k but that's the game.

So I go to the mound and say super rationally "ok, so where are you missing?" My son glares at me and between clenched teeth says "I'm NOT" hahahaha I don't miss a beat and say "well HE (ump) thinks you are and it's all the same spot. So we keep doing this and he's not gonna give in and give you that call. So I need to bring in Chili dog and give this ump a chance to reset his ego and his strike zone, ok?" Kid stomps off to wherever we put him and all that.

But Riley reminds me of that. So coach where was the DB off in his technique? "He WASN'T"

Same kid grew up to tell me how stupid his professor is at school, how idiotic the big school's policies are on housing, and how he hates group projects because everyone else's work sucks and he ends up doing their work anyway. I'm like yeah, what a surprise to hear this from you. Never saw that coming -lol

I loved that play but I think it was indicative of where his head was at that half and I think it led to some poor decisions. Including running that play. That was the play after he got horse collared.
