Back in the days of yore, Div 1a Oregon would routinely schedule an away game with Nebraska, Georgia, Oklahoma, etc. to simply get a paycheck in return for the resultant blow-out. Not much different than what FCS (and some Group of 5) teams do with Power 5 teams currently.
All of that changed in the late 1980s when it was decided that Oregon would no longer promote the practice of scheduling a one-sided game + a large paycheck, and instead would demand home and away games with the competition.
Fast forward to today... Because Oregon will play at tOSU this season, and lost out on their game due to COVID at Autzen last season, Oregon will get $3.5M from tOSU....so this year's game at the 'shoe is basically another "paycheck" game of yore....AND they have rescheduled another home and away for 2032 and 2033 (first time both schools have open dates).
Total win-win for Oregon considering the circumstances imo.
The ironic part? The very last "paycheck" game for Oregon was our 1987 game at the 'shoe where we lost 24-14.
I gotta wonder if this Wildwest board will even be around in 2032? That's like 35 years after Java started it all.....most here will be in our 60s/70s/80s by then....hmmmm..... 🤔
In 2032 the board will be a real riot. Particularly the politics board where everyone will be 100. The dementia is already evident.
Did they try to reschedule the missed home game?
You should go. I saw UCLA play the Bucks at the Horseshoe in 1999. It's a historic venue worth seeing. I can't say much for Columbus, but most of the fans were pretty okay, and we had a good time.
I will be 88 and for my critics I will be gone by then
Chump change to Nike, surprised you would stop to bent over for such a small sum. :)
