I had to read that twice, but it's true. UCLA's first win at the Rose Bowl over the Indians since 2008. 0-6 before last night. Wow.
Man, Skippy and Mora just couldn't get it done. Especially Mora. Shaw just fucked with him and then smirked for years and years. No wonder Mora went insane.
I guess partly in UCLA's defense, that was when the Indians were good, not seen since the days of Jim Plunkett. Stanford was really good under Harbaugh and Shaw 1.0.
Question for the board: how and/or why did the Indians become so shitty so quickly?
Stanford used to be really good, now they're a joke. Is it their refusal to use the transfer portal? I mean, for incoming players? It's pretty clear the transfer portal is siphoning off a lot of their talent, but they're not doing it in reverse. No doubt they're not going to utilizing NIL either.
Are the Indians going to be the new Northwestern of the West, circa 1970s/1980s?
harbaugh built Stanford. He is a great fundamental football teacher. His concepts of heavy, jumbo double and triple tight ends statue, quarterbacks, and huddling are very contrarian.
shaw stayed w the program when he took over. Football evolves and assistance coaches leave. You need to stay up with it. Shaws entire innovation in 7-8 years has been stealing the mesh concept from wake and having it work sporadically this year.
Shaw is stupid. He was rewarded w one of the largest contracts in cfb and that helps with stability and recruiting. But it’s not enough. Look at his record the last 3-4 years. This isn’t something sudden. The fish rots from the head.
ucla and usc have him way too much credit and lost games over the years to prop him up. Had either team played to their capabilities people would found the Emperor where is no clothes long ago. San Clemente loves him and once legendarily said “Alton has the worst staff in any sport at any level in the entire country” the day before he beat Shaw and Stanford
