Imagine what a scout/coach/GM would be worth if they had a 70%+ success rate in evaluating football talent.
Look at the chat attached below. 46% success rate for 1st rd QBs over the last 20 years. Of course success rates based on QBs signing second contract with team that drafted player… but how many teams trade or free agent a successful QB? I’d say 46% is an acceptable number.
Because scouring is an inexact science. I know this might be shocking to you. But 15 and 16-year-old high school sophomores and juniors. Which is what he would’ve been when he was recruited. Are not finished products
And I know. Here’s some more revelation. Sometimes kids peak. And well, it doesn’t apply here. I’ll let you in on another little secret Hispanic kids Peak earlier. They’re taller more developed and then they flat out stop you watch them play soccer when they are 89 and 10 and they are physically dominating others. You look around at high school teams and watch the juniors and seniors play and suddenly all the white kids are back
Baseball is the same. Kids are throwing gas in the lower age levels. By the time they’re in high school most of them wind up being middle infielders..
And that’s for guys who have a full body or college work to evaluate. Imagine if the nfl had to draft kids after their sophomore year of college. Or maybe their junior year. And then have to watch them play another 1-2 years and hope they ck to ie to develop. Thats college recruiting.
Interesting development. Nelson beat out by a two star. Backs up the negative info I heard from inside the program. Nelson not a hard worker. Privilege mentality. Didn't show for physical therapy and many individual/team workouts. The floaters he threw in high school didn't translate to the next level. No mobility. Pencilneck body. Can't take a hit - would never see the field under Riley.
Nelson committed to CLR at Oklahoma and followed him to usc .
As I posted when he was in high school he sucked, and I had no idea what Rilley saw in him other than he threw a pretty ball. sc

Wow. Riley said Nelson needed more development, guess he was right. Don’t know what Riley saw in him but he must have seen something. Silly kids.
That guy must have an NIL deal with Pillsbury.
Bigger bust than Ty Thompson. Can’t trust 247 Sports
