Hire a defensive minded coach that teaches toughness, discipline, fundamentals.
Play the player that won the competition in practice. Competition everywhere including the weight room.
Kids want to play in the NFL. If they know they have a fair chance of starting if they beat out the guy in front of them, and learn how to be an NFL player, the top recruits will come.
the game is won in the trenches.
Play solid NFL style defense.
It's all about the ball.
Any of this sound familiar? Oh ya. Pete Carroll did this at SC and it seemed to work out ok.
The only thing I would add is recruit a quarterback that can MOVE. Something that just happened upon Pete in Seattle. also seemed to work out ok.
anyone ever see Pete Carroll giving up 162 points in 3 games to anyone? sc
Pro Style offense like the Arizona Cardinals 9-2.....ya OK
63 points happened. and LSU wasn't the greatest football team of all time. Not even close. sc
Correction.....his latest DC didn't give up all those points ...only in one game against the greatest College Football Team I've ever seen (LSU) guided by Joe Burrows...he gave up 63 and last year in their bowl game won 55-20...giving those 20 up to Florida who had the 10th rated offense in all of college football and if you take out the Buffalo's, Kent St's, Western Michigan's, Coastal Carolina's ...and only count the big boys it would have been ranked #6....
Like Iowa
no, still mostly dead.
The STANDARD for USC football is to compete for national championships.
this hire does not appear to have met that standard.
giving up 162 points in three playoff games can not be ignored. sc
