Give me the odds that the DC would be

the recently fired Indiana HC Tom Allen....read where he was a Plan B hire....what do you think?

Tom Allen has been around but one thing stood out to me..

"Allen took over a defense that ranked #120 in the FBS in total defense and #106 in opponent points scored. After just one season, Allen engineered one of the top defensive turnarounds in the country with the team improving in every major statistical category against a schedule featuring four top-10 opponents, a program first. The Hoosiers were the most improved team nationally in total defense (-169.4 ypg) and passing defense (-134.1 ypg), the sixth-most improved in third-down defense (-12.2 percent) and the ninth-most improved in points per game allowed (-12.3 ypg)".

not gonna matter who usc signs as their dc. that's not where the root of the problem lies the new dc won't do much better than grinch.

Nebraska has the 17th best scoring defense in the nation this year at 18.2 PPG and they're only giving up 92.9 YPG on the ground. That's actually slightly better than Wisconsin's defense last year under Leonhard, and NU is 5-7 in their first year under Rhule. White has produced Top 25 defenses (total yardage) at Syracuse as well. He may not be an A level hire but I'd say he's a solid B, with a lot of potential.

Bingo. This is why I didn't want to hire several guys. Including leonhard. You need guys who have established themselves multiple places with their defenses. And done so under offensive coaches. You know. Like he would at usc. I hire people all the time. I know what to look for on a resume
