Makes the case for continuity. ND is doing well, and there is no need for an overhaul. Fourth ranked recruiting class next year and (way too early) second ranked class of '23 has future looking bright. Things are set up for the man. Makes sense.
Nice article, but I would have a beef with this one paragraph. Domer "connections" might just be a mile wide and a foot deep.
Notre Dame is a place that's awash in its own lore, and Freeman endeared himself to Notre Dame officials with his ability to identify and accentuate why Notre Dame is distinctly different than blue bloods like Alabama, USC and Ohio State. Freeman quickly showed an intuitive understanding of how to leverage the unique aspects of Notre Dame — academics, tradition, alumni connections — as an advantage.
I have lunch once a month with bunch of Domers. They are extremely nice but totally myopic when it comes to their alma Mater. They all live in the past and of course they are the only major football program who does it right and never ever does anything wrong. I just roll my eyes .
