Next year is still a similar record to this year.
Moss seems like a great kid and had a helluva game. Is he a playoff QB? Would be fun to see if he has it in him, but with no running game and the brutal schedule next year, he has little chance to do very well. Yes, the offensive line will show some promise with the young talent, but it won't be enough next year. Big 10 defenses will get to our QBa often next year.
The other problem next year is obviously the run defense. That isn't getting fixed in time for the Big 10. Maybe a new scheme helps but the talent will still be lean.
Another problem is S & C. Willl SC finally get serious about size and strength?
Finally, where are the game breakers on offense? Branch is struggling to get open and do much. Lemon could be another guy. But who else? Here again, just not enough to compete next year.
It's all about 2025 for the Riley experiment to reach a final conclusion. Will be a interesting season to watch but there will be some ugly games.
Take the W last night but let's not act like ucla fans and over celebrate a crappy bowl win over a middling school.
Above all, congrats to Moss. Love it when a kid can have a night like that. Very cool.
On the other side of a tampon someone always has a big but
There is a reason CLR called it a fun win . Pretty much everything went right . Last time that happened was nd 2022. sc
agree. I wouldn't read too much into that win last night, esp. if UL's qb had hurt his throwing hand. Frankly, usc couldn't stop their run game, so why they even worried about passing is a mystery. UL did usc a lot of favors last night, not the least of which were reacting slowly to several poorly thrown passes that went for big gains/tds. Props to Moss for his loyalty to the program and how he played last night, but a lot of those throws aren't gonna cut it in the future when teams have game film on him. UL probably would have been better off playing zone coverages and keeping the ball in front of them. USC wasn't able to run the ball at all and all they needed to do was limit usc's passing game and run the clock. They probably flip the score had they approached the game this way.
Sober post. Spot on.
