I've been gone for a while given my self-imposed exile after Helton was hired. During that time, people have gotten a bit more polite around here. That really sucks. The mean-spirited, bitter vitriol, combined with Art's pot-stirring, was what made this place great. So to see Java's "I've inherited more money than you" melt down, followed by 'announcing' the board loser was so entertaining. Finally, someone's blood pressure is going up again.
Other than people I knew before coming to the board, I've only met one poster in real life. And it was someone toward whom I'd been a complete asshole for years. He reached out and said he was coming to NY for a family event and we decided to grab dinner. I can't remember his handle, but Clemente had dubbed him the gay fake marine. Turned out to be a very good guy, not to mention: (i) he lettered at ND, (ii) was an actual marine, and (iii) was an amateur boxer.
It was hilarious to sit across from someone I'd insulted in pretty personal, mean ways. He'd raised a family in Orange County, been married to the same woman for 50+ years, given back to the community, etc. His only major flaw, as far as I could tell, is that he's a fucking Domer, which I admit, is pretty bad.
My point is, let's keep it mean and personal around here. We can always raise a glass in person, but this place is much more entertaining when people are pissing each other off.
PS - Java, if it makes you feel better, I believe you own a house and not an apartment.
Fuck you, Haden.
Like clockwork, Java shows up just as the season starts and starts spitballing the easily-provoked usual suspects. Keyboard flames erupt, chest puffery breaks out, site traffic sees a little bump. Then Java declares mission accomplished and pins the W to the top of the board. If this site wasn't entertaining, none of us would be here.
Damn, I think you have always been a sweetheart pete (Hank).
Completely agree. Even your worst enemy on the Green Board becomes your friend over a beer or three.
Happened to me and odawg (Section14) years ago. My sworn enemy on here for years, but a great guy in person when we finally met (despite his penchant for purple as a grown man).
Java's site is entertainment, not real life. Probably not much different than that Kardashians cr@p on TV, but with less boobage unfortunately.
