You might recall Jimbo was one of the highest paid coaches in the land a few years ago. $7-$8 million and he had a "lifetime" contract. In reality, I think it was about a 7 year deal that had some sort of rollovers in it.
I don't remember what he did wrong. Maybe losing to Ohio State and losing bowls was what he did wrong. But at one point during COVID he took a pay cut. When he was losing the thought was he might get canned.
Suddenly, Jimbo with the pay cut begins winning. And flirting with the NFL. Then begging to come back to UM. Each time promising he would never stray again. Never sleep with that dirty sexy hot whore named the NFL ever ever again Even if they poured chocolate sauce all over themselves and begged him to lick it off. Nope, he was a Michigan man. Through and through.
Wellllllllllll Apparently Jimbo and his agent planned to take advantage of this 2-3 year run they are on to make sure he was going to get his. He was going to push for and apparently get, the richest contract in CFB history. Maybe coaching history. He was going to make up for all the money he lost and then some. I don't know what outs either party was going to have, but I was told that unless he left, it was all guaranteed. I can't imagine it didn't have a behavior clause, especially with it being him and what just happened at Moo U with the gymnsastics coach and the football coah too. And also that OC they had to fire at UM. But apparently if he played it clean and just SUCKED? Jimbo was going to get $12-$15 million a year, for 10 years. Deal was going to be in the $140-150 million range. Maybe it was for 11 years, I dunno.
I just know it was supposed to be the largest contract per year and in total ever. Kept hearing that. Largest ever. And apparently also, the timing of all this is directly related to this.
I guess a lot of the people who have been leaking stuff. Obviously OSU folks and even some UM people, absolutely Loathe Jimbo and want him gone. OSU people for obvious reasons. Not sure why UM people hate him.
So a lot of this is being leaked, and when it's not getting the traction they want, they are leaking more.
SO you've read a lot, here is the kicker. Michigan just pulled their offer. They've rescinded the deal. I don't know if that means they think he will be gone or they just want to see how it plays out.
But Jimbo just got screwed, at least for now, out of about $150 million
The stink of this scandal doesnt seem to want to go away. I'm wondering if it can be fatal for him . Harbaugh had been wanting to jump to the league before he started winning consistently and Michigan might not object.
couldn't happen to a bigger asshole. I'm curious how much of his career is built on cheating? Like Belichek, who couldn't win anything in Cleveland but then "found" his mojo when he started cheating in New England (nothing new there), Harbaugh was able to take a laughing stock of a program Stanford and make them into a winner. Pretty amazing. And since he left, Stanford has death spiraled back to their normal low level orbit.
