I agree to a certain extent. I did have some asshole coaches like that. But, for me, the assholes were the ones who were egomaniacs who didn't really understand the game, even though they thought they did. They weren't in it to coach young men, they were all about themselves.

Assholes and pricks were closely related in that they weren't leaders of men; they were all about being loved, even though they weren't. But the pricks were more sadistic. They definitely got a lot out of their players, and they generally won, sometimes big. But they were maladjusted people. Some of them would have made good Nazis.

I don't think you have to be either or in order to be successful, and the best coaches are neither.

Minutes on stretching and run wind sprints. Why we weren’t doing push ups and running laps.

i explained this was travel ball. We get to practice 2 times a week. Maybe 3. For 2 hours. said anyone can make your kid run up and down the block. Lift weights. Shoot if you want him strong. You do It.

I have really limited time to team them how to work together. How to hit field and throw properly. I do that really really well. Whether you’re 8 or 49. I see things in motions others don’t. no idea why. I just do. So if you want hkm buff or to lose weight be my guest. I’m not running a track team. I design my drills so the first ones are stretched and warm ups. But they’re all baseball skills. Which was the point.

last thing I was interested in was being some maniacal drill sergeant. Amazing how many parents are angry at their kids and want you to punish them. Weird .

Have you ever even heard of a coach with a soft little league hugs and ice cream breaks coach that ever won anything beyond little league? Again, maybe that works in soccer. Don't know.

USC was riddled with personal foul penalties under Helton. Last season very few, and no the first ridiculous Utah game doesn't count. Huge decline in false starts too. sc
