The lineup for the 2022 ESPN GEICO Kickoff was released on Tuesday and the two-game nationally televised high school football showcase features some of the top teams and players in the country.
St. Joseph’s Prep (Pa.) will play St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) in game one and Los Alamitos (Calif.) will take on American Heritage (Fla.) in game two. The games will be played back-to-back on Saturday, Aug. 27.
St. Thomas Aquinas finished the 2021 season ranked No. 13 in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated Power 25 national high school football rankings. All four of the teams playing in the GEICO Kickoff event will receive national ranking consideration this fall.
St. Joseph's Prep star linebacker Josiah Trotter, a West Virginia commit, will be tasked with slowing down St. Thomas Aquinas tailback Xavier Terrell in game one. Terrell is one of eight Raiders in the 2023 class who hold at least one Division 1 scholarship offer.
Game two features two of the top offenses in the country. Los Alamitos has two USC commits on its roster in 2023 quarterback Malachi Nelson and 2023 wide receiver Makai Lemon. One of the top 2023 pass catchers in Florida, Brandon Inniss, will lead American Heritage.
Thanks, El T. We'll see how the SoCal kids do in the heat and humidity, or downright heat in Allen, TX.
Thanks, I look forward to watching. Did I just miss it, or would it be too difficult to tell where the games are being played?
