How do these geniuses graduate 1.5 years early ?

Maybe. I was also thinking back to my years. I had algebra in the 7th grade. Geometry in the 8th. I went to a catholic hs which because of religion classes meant we had an extra class. So that’s actually 4 extra classes or what 32 units? After two years.

And I forgot. Catholic school gave you extra credit. I think a full class. If you served at your church. I didn’t go to a Catholic Church but I was an acolyte then crucifer shoot. Once a month? And somehow my parents got me credit for that.

Oh. And I played the trumpet and drums. But I didn’t want to march in any parades or do football games. But I could play two instruments and my mom was a well known professional so I played jazz band. But didn’t end up going to class. Thinking back I’m not sure when I practiced w them but I performed. And get this. They gave me band credit. Arts. Hahahaha I can’t draw a picture to save my life. But I got art credit. And because it was “band” I got pe credit! I swear. I sat on my butt and played count Basie and glen miller and got pe credit because “band” people all got it. Even though I wasn’t really in the matching part

My second school I played sports and again. No pe. More jazz band too So I took like two English classes or something. My point is that as I think back on it I had hellacious credits. Now were they the right ones? The languages and sciences and all that? Certainly not for UC. Or UsC.

so I obviously went my senior and junior years. But add up all those extra credits I had for algebra and geometry and the church stuff and free pe and jazz band and sports and the extra period for two years at Catholic school? Shoot I was easily a year or two ahead. On credits. But back then it wasn’t just credits. They had to be the right credits. I guess if you threw all that out I could be one of these kids too.

Except look at what I did to get them. You don’t see these kids doing algebra in the 7th grade. Taking 7 classes in hs. Serving their church except Ryder lyons lol. Or going music stuff That’s how I got all those. And that’s kinda my point here. These guys go play football then flag football then lift weights. Mumble into a microphone and magically graduate in 2.5 years? Sure they do

I did 4 years at Serra, catholic high school and yes the same school Tom Brady, Barry Bonds and Lynn Swann went to. LOL

We had 6 periods and I had a minimum of 5 solid classes and sometimes 6 each semester. I had more homework in high school than I ever had in college, even USC. When I was at USC they had the 4x4 academic plan, that meant most classes were 4 units so 4 classes was a full load of 16 units but the professors really didn’t expect more work than when the classes were worth 3 units.

Worked out great for me. You also had to take two special classes outside your major . I took Origin of Species, which was about evolution.

Even though the professor didn’t convince me to believe in evolution, it was one of my favorite college classes. Great professor and he withstood the temptation to denigrate Christianity. My other class outside my major was a class about Elizabethan playwrights, not just Shakespeare, but Webster, Ford and Marlowe. Had Shakespeare not been around all three of them would have been considered great playwrights but they were overshadowed by Shakespeare.

Also at Serra we spent a semester on Shakespeare and another semester on poetry which I hated. LOL

By the way, you said you had six legit classes at Sara and I’m sure one was religion. Did public schools have 5 then? All I knew was we had one more than the public schools. But our classes were like 5 minutes shorter. But our lunch was 10 min shorter and somehow that all added up to that extra class.

Anyway. I loved poetry. And poetry class. Totally for why you might guess. The reason? I am a lazy slow reader and my reading comprehension is low. Hahaha. Soooo reading dickens? Or homer? Omg torture for me. But poems? They’re short you see? Easy reading. Even possible you can read and memorize most of it and get ideas for it while driving to school while stopped at red lights. Uh. Just to use that as an “example”.

so when analyzing them. Being able to come up with phrases like “the writer is commenting on the absurdity of human existence” goes a looooooong way with hippy teachers who graduated nor cal colleges in the 60s and are teaching Fresno hs in the 80s.

“Frailty of the human spirit” was another great line. Making random and benign references to existentialism also was a favorite.

Properly dropped in. Not over used. These went a long way and I didn’t stay up till 3 am falling asleep in hundred of pages.

Poetry was great. Even if I had little clue what they were saying or cared much for the study of these nerdy mostly suicidal clods.

Completely disagree. Blacks are the worst.

If you want to break it down even more than that, and Ive done the research….black haired people are the worst drivers. By a mile.

Do this experiment…next time you see an idiot on the road, look at their hair color. 9 outta 10 will be black haired.

Funny side story. Two of them. One is that I always assumed Asians as you said in particular Asians from Asia were intelligent and brilliant. Somehow that came up in conversation with my kids, and particularly my youngest kind of went pffft and blew me off. WHAT? I said. He explained that his school had several foreign exchange Asian kids and they were sent by their wealthy Chinese and Korean families because they were either lazy stupid slow fat and their parents thought maybe by sending them to America they could keep up. And my son said at our school they are lazy, slow fat and stupid and they just don’t have their parents on top of them every night. So I thought that was kinda funny.

Forgot the second side story dang it. Getting old does that. Btw strand is 162 steps. Which is fine but after a run and you’re tired it’s no fun walking them back up. I hear thousand steps beach got a mudslide and now it’s about 400 non consecutive steps. Truth is it was always like 200 steps but named by a bunch of whining complainers. And apparently it did have a mudslide. Probably the fault of someone who posted publicly asking for them.

Still can’t remember the other Asian thing. Oh yeah

The biggest problem blacks have is not lower iq’s, it’s no fathers in the home and horrible, horrible public school education in the inner cities.

In 7 of 13 Baltimore public high schools no one tested proficient in math or reading, except for one girl who was proficient in reading. On a 1-5 scale, one being the lowest, most students scored a one on both assessments. Before Covid, this school district had the fifth highest per capita rate of funding. And the AFT is opposed to charters and private schools. Stanford's CREDO Institute demonstrate that the latter have an educational effect equal to an extra month of school per year. AFT=Afterthought for students.

at Pepsi. I worked with a guy who went to Damien high school with Mark Maguire. He said McGuire cheated off him in every class they had together and cheated off everyone else around him. And it was common knowledge. He said Maguire was one of the dumbest rocks he had ever met, and his opinion of USC was lowered greatly when he found Maguire was admitted and was going.

I think your friend was more envious than anything else of McGuire. LOL

Could be. He went to cal state Fullerton. Business school grad. Felt it was just as good an education As UsC and much cheaper. His proof was we graduated the same year and got the same job out of hs. He quit Pepsi after a year or two to take over his dads property management business. Can’t tell you how that worked out
