Talk is cheap. Show it on the field. We will find out early about the defense. First game last year Rice moved the ball up and down the field. The D did not improve all year - in fact, they wore down and got worse. I'm hoping and expecting a big improvement, but I will reserve judgement when I see it. It's not how you talk, it's about how you perform.
Like everything else in life, but we can still have fun with predictions. Mine: You will see a vastly improved defense week 1, but more importantly, towards the end of the season when we experience the meat of the schedule. every team has to deal with injuries. Hope we can have some luck in that area.
PAC did USC no favors with their schedule...unless CLR rotates a lot of players by the second half of the season one week after another a big game with teams laying in wait is going to get real tough especially if injuries start adding up and exhaustion starts setting in....
IMHO USC has depth in the secondary and wide receiver and running back to meet that challenge but QB, OL, DL and LBer are still not deep enough to handle sustained high level of performance and no injuries....
Let me add if CLR gives the baackups including QB playing time in the first half of the season and rotates his OLmen and LBers early those positions could be more ready....unfortunately outside of Rush End the DL needs more than more playing time to not fall short...
The longer it goes the better we get. That's what she said?
