I caught a little bit of XM ESPNU

Big12 radio show yesterday, ironically this was their regular time slot. This wasn’t a special show, the Big12 gets the majority of ESPNU airtime on Sundays. They were pissed, wished Riley luck. Bashed USC, CA, Los Angeles, the Pac-12 and everything west of Norman. They were upset, apoplectic.. lots of long pauses and disbelief. But the big football take away was if Riley can lure the oline coach then the rest of Pac12 is fucked. They admit Riley is a great coach but the oline coach makes the whole operation hum.

so is their word that the Oline coach is part of the deal? I know the DC is.

these 2 guys knew nothing about USC, called USC a poor little Private School with no big donor base or billionair donors. FYI, USC trails only Harvard, Stanford and U of Chicago in Billionaire alumni with like 20+. Also USC’s endowment is 4x that of Oklahoma’s. USC 7B OU 1.75B.

the more the show went on the sourer (I know not a word) the grapes got and they were wishing death to Riley and his family and wouldn’t take him back.

it really was the stages of grief in real time.

@SuckSuckisian Gotta agree with you there. Not a fan of sports radio to begin with, then you have these "shows" showing them sitting there talking into a mic.

I find they fall into two categories. Boring or cartoonishly stupid. Maybe I'm just an old grinch, but not for me.

UCLA fans are throwing the biggest bitch fit I have ever seen over this hire. It is so embarrassing. I have not seen a meltdown like this since I told my then three year old daughter that she could not take the purple pony home from the carousel at Disneyland and have it live in the backyard and eat the lawn and drink out of the pool. I might just switch teams over this, not to USC, too smart for that, but maybe somewhere that has fans with balls like Cal Poly or St. Thomas Aquinas.

I haven't really seen much of that over at Bruin report online. Yeah, there's definitely concern but it's more about what UCLA is going to do with Chip in order to upgrade the team, specifically the defense. The fear is that the answer is nothing, and that Dinglefuck will be running the defense again in '22. Ideally Chip just leaves on his own, but that won't happen.

There are some, myself included, who believe USC hiring Riley will improve the rest of the conference because they will need to take steps to compete. With Guerrero that didn't amount to shit when Pom Pom was at USC. Those days are over, so MJ needs to earn his money. If Chip won't replace Dinglefuck, MJ needs to fire his ass, regardless of who else is available as a HC. UCLA will improve with better defense and a coach who is willing to recruit, and many would qualify, even not a big name, just someone with passion. Chip doesn't give a shit about recruiting or defense, and that won't cut it against what USC will be building.

There is a real possibility that USC, even with this great hire, won't be able to keep its head above the demographic wave engulfing California. Latins/Hispanics like soccer not football. Asians generally don't play football.

I hope this move turns things around. Thank god for USC which is doing its best to make college football in Southern California great again.

AND I AM NOT a fan boy of USC.

@buddyboy USC solves the California demographic problem by recruiting out of state. USC has already established itself as a recruiting force in Texas and Florida. That will only accelerate in the future

The demographic problem I was referring to applies to several different things.

The general population of California is changing to a majority of an ethnic hispanics (NOT RACIAL). As a group they prefer baseball and soccer over football. There is also an increasing Asian and India Indian population at USC that is generally not into football. There is also an increasing number of students who are from other countries who are not football fans.

This is not intended to insult Asians, immigrants, student visitors and hispanics. Generally they are not into college football and they are increasing their numbers in Southern California and at USC.

I believe that is why attenandance and fan interest is down at USC, UCLA, Cal and Stanford. I understand that ADs at USC and UCLA have not helped the situation these past 10 years.

JUST MY OPINION.

I hope this move of USC can restore what I use to love which was exciting football games with stadiums full of enthusiastic fans.
