another air raid guy. and he's keeping fellow texas tech alum , his buddy soy pajama boy Harrell according to at least one report.
oh, and his teams don't play defense. ranked 58th in the ncaa.
how has that worked out for Troy? I just watched Riley get beat by a tougher team yesterday. just like his playoff games.
big name, big splash. more of the same.
please tell me why this is a good hire? and please don't think there will be any discipline. sc

Think the massive contract and wins will keep the NFL away for awhile
Not a bad course of action. Better than the alternative - had the interim trojan's coach even done a decent job SC you'd be looking at another failed 7 years. I was thrilled Ucla clobbered us and even more ecstatic when BYU snatched our victory away. If both those games had gone the other way or even if SC had managed a win against the Cougs, then beat Cal and we'd been in a bowl game, that idiot with the flat-brimmed hat might have gotten the gig (affirmative action hire vs skill). Thank God SC imploded this year the way they did.
There's hiring the best coach ever (Saban?) and hiring the "best you can get given the realities" and given USC's moribund reality I'm shocked we were even able to negotiate Riley to the end without being played for a raise (again). This should be a long play with step #1 being Riley (getting us to the Pac12 Championship and NC Playoff), then when he leaves for the NFL we can go to step #2 to hire "the best" once it's obvious we're serious about winning again.
Like what SC says or not, he's accurate about his observation on Riley's defense. But listen Pete Carroll was known only as a dc, not a true hc. Part of his journey to USC was to dispel that myth and re-write his reputation. This was part of the reason he ran off Chow as Chow was getting all the credit for the O. Carroll constantly said it was his offense but nobody was buying it. Perhaps Riley's evolution as a coach will involve defense and he'll get it done at USC then move on to the NFL. Regardless, anyone who doesn't think this is the best hire USC could make, considering the available coaches, is fooling themselves. The Trojans are immediately back in the winner's circle and the rest of the Pac 12 is back to where they've always been when it comes to competing against USC - the back of the bus.
The question is WTF do you know ? Answer nothing. The dude is 55 -10 at Norman.
2017 was our last very good class
2019 was better but still only 3/4 starters but they did get 2 stars in Drake Duo. This is a C class so far
The key is who he brings in as DC. I agree that OU was winning a lot of shoot out type games and we need to start playing defense again at USC. If he can land some good defensive coaches we should be OK. Riley will no doubt at least up recruiting back to USC standards. There will never be a class ranked 70th in the country like Gomer did which led to this year's disaster.
Offense wins in college football .. the great D wizard Saban has to out score people to win.
D in college football is dead. Every incomplete pass is interference. Holding is never called especially on home team. Tackling is illegal. All the rules favor offense.
el doctor, Riley is twice as good as you and half your age (38).
Now go work on your tamale assignment.
We like your tamales.
OK Amigo??
From Soonerwire before this season...
"Last season in 2020, Lincoln Riley’s Sooners averaged 38.4 run plays per game and 32.6 passing plays. In Riley’s variation of the Air Raid, he uses the passing game to build off the running/play-action/RPO game. His spread creates favorable matchups to get the running back in space and open lanes for a mobile quarterback.
He puts players in a position to have success based on their individual skills and is a true ascending mastermind in college football. Not only does he continue to produce next-level quarterbacks (two Heisman Trophy winners, one runner-up), but he also does a tremendous job installing the game plan week-in and week-out to the point of frustration.
Come Saturday, his players are so prepared that regardless of the defensive coverage, guys are able to execute and adjust the play to move the chains."
How is that close to what Mike Leach or Harrell coaches...hell Harrell wantsd anything but a mobile QB...
Da power running game at Oklahoma under Riley is well known.
Riley has led Oklahoma to top-10 offensive performances each season except for 2021
Riley has produced two Heisman trophy QBs not degrading situation s like Helton.
Expect California prospects like 5* rb Raleek to come to SC
OU has reached college playoff 3 times with Riley and the B12 title four times
Hey SC, you’re about to get a tsunami of 4 and 5 stars which will land at USC within the next several weeks…. Give it a chance. If nothing else, MAJOR upgrade… could’ve hired me and had a major upgrade tho.)
You are absolutely hilarious. Certifiably insane but funny at the same time.
Is it better than usc's current air raid. sure. that's about it.
and his defenses STINK. they aren't as bad as SC's, but they STINK.
Is it better than Hugs and Donte? sure. but who isn't? sc
You need to watch more OU football...they have a serious running game...and where did you read he was keeping Harrell? I guess he could be Riley's coffee boy but not his playcvaller unless he stands near riley and motions Riley's play calls... His Defense is getting better and remember the Big 12 has a few teams that can put up points and yards as well and he was one play away from winning another Big 12....watch this play and tell me that it wasn't a PI...and I thought the pac officiating was bad....go down this thread to Sooner gridirons video of the play that lost them the game...

You know, you don’t have to be an outlier all the time.
As for the air raid comment….ignorant.
OU is as balanced as anyone. Very effective running game.
Try again.
