So here's how we gonna play it.
West division: USC, UCLA, NEB, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin., Illinois, Northwestern.
East, Moo U, UM, OSU, State Penn, Indiana, Purdue, Maryland, Rutgers.
You got 4 legit football schools in each division and 4 probable patsies. About even. NEB, Minn, Ill and NW are your patsies. Maybe UCLA. But NEB can be good someday I assume. On the other side, Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana and Purdue are your patsies.
Basketball? Different matter. Some good teams all over there. Both sides.
Each team will be required to play 10 conference games. 7 against your own division and a rotating 3 against the other. After 3 years you'll have seen everyone and every 6 years you'll have had everyone at home. My dear old Dad can come down to LA every 3 years and see USC and UCLA take apart Purdue.
Why 10 games? Because the other division is kinda foreign to you and as commish I want as many TV games as I can get, And keep as much ticket revenue in conference as I can get. Now if the goal and game i to maximize bowl teams, then maybe we move that to 8. In which case you almost never see the other division in football. Like once very 16 years at home.
Anyway, for your two non conference games? We need to bolster the conference computer rating. So I am requiring very team to schedule 1 of the two opponents as someone who has been top 25 end of season ranked at least once in the last 5 years at time of scheduling. The other can be a directional school. Use it as your warm up.
Goal here? Boost that SOS for the CFP rankings and computer points. But also control as much TV content and gate revenue as possible.
And yeah, you have one game for a warm up patsy.
At least you have contact with him. Kliakov stopped talking to him after that handshake deal a year ago that their would be no poaching. That dude is actually more clueless than Larry Scott. I think SC saw that and said we’re not doing another 12 years of this crap. In a way your better off being a Ore st or wsu. Just move down to Mtn west. No more playing this $$$ game Trying to compete with the Joneses. uncle Phil won’t give up. But I’m sure when he’s gone and the pac is pulling in $25 mil/ yr vs $125. The rest will throw on the towel eventually.
I read somewhere that if these super conferences happen that they will add more games to the schedule....
