The nordic peoples interchanged extensively, sharing the same basic ethnicity, religion, languages and warlike nature. The vikings of Scandinavia spoke a Germanic language. No, Scandinavians (later called Vikings), like the Anglo-Saxons (English) were a sub group of the Germanic peoples. Germanic is a broad umbrella term for the people that speak a group of languages that are interrelated and lived in the northern part of Europe.

I think the "indigenous" folks are Central Asian via the bering strait. They were fending off Saber tooths and Mastadons rather than superior Hominid forces. DNA testing has suggested, pointed to, as much.
