That was wild. Two different games. Not sure what the adjustments were But WRs were no longer wide open down the field.

Love the run game I am seeing. The schemes (pulling guards) and the workhorses. Dye ans Jones bring it. Every carry.

The lack of football talk in this thread is STUNNING. Some moron started talking about the Stanford offense. Jesus. Furd mostly rushed five in the 2nd half and jammed the receivers and played much closer to the line everywhere. This caused Caleb duress and he made shit throws. Riley didnt adjust, oddly

Here is my theory. Based on the post game presser. Caleb indicated on one play that the pre snap read was Riley and he signaled it in.

if shAw knew or saw that then they probably lined up a certain way and looked at the usc sideline. When Caleb got his signal or his play they probably shifted into whatever they were truly going to do.

nfl teams do this as the clock winds down and of course Peyton manning was famous for the cat and mouse. d shows a look. Offense shifts as a result. D then shifts out of it. Manning then continues to adjust. Sometimes watching the back and forth with manning and defenses was more interesting than the game.

i may be totally wrong but something clearly happened. On a key drive Williams tossed a long pass to the sidelines on 2nd and 6. Totally unnecessary. So on 3rd down he gets it back under control and throws a 7 yard cross or an out or a rb screen right? Nope. Throws the same pass same spot same result. It was really immature. Uncharacteristic. And it cost USC the drive. And the timing was fairly poor a touchdown with reestablished momentum and put the game away as a laugher

Impressive but before you get too excited isn’t Stan. coming off a 3-9 season with essentially the same players except for Jones (LOL) with one of the weakest defenses in the country ranked 114th giving up over 451 YPG?

The only difference is you didn’t see me touting UCLA after those games anywhere on this board. The jury is still out with the Bruins we will see what their made of after playing Wash, Utah and Oregon in Eugene.

Stanford's changed up their offense completely for this game. Not what they saw in their first game is what I understood and Riley went with his run game more in the second half and I witnessed Caleb lose interest similar to the spring game when after he got a lead his passing accuracy and ability to move the team went in the toilet.

I've heard some analysts say that the Stanford surprise new offense is called the Mesh, and is currently an East Coast thing run only by Wake Forest. The had to make some adjustments in the second half to wipe the smile of that smug SOB Shaw's face, who was certain he would be SC with it.

think stanford went away from man coverage all the time. Not sure why USC didn't adapt in the passing game, tho I think Riley was focused more on running the clock. This is a mistake that will catch up to him eventually, but he got away with it last night.
