We were all aware that Helton left the cupboard bare, but Riley was able to overhaul the offense pretty easily. While expecting the same thru out the team is asking a lot, I don't think he and grinch made the most of the talent they did have/acquire, they regressed as the season proceeded. Pete Carrol had similar talent in 2001 (only Palmer and Polamalu were NFL talent), yet that team improved by the end of the season. Big difference in the level of coaching from what i witnessed. Riley et al really need to step up their games.

How is that not fireable? I wonder if the type of defense we play is not just up to Grinch, which I kinda assumed it was. Either Riley liked what he saw from his WSU's, hired him based on that D. And/or, he directed Grinch to play a certain way because it was tough for him(Riley) to produce clean plays against.

well losing to utah is the common theme between PC and LR, so props to the utes. Carrol didn't have the transfer portal, which you conveniently ignored, so he had to do it the old way. If LR didn't have Caleb, which he wouldn't have back under 2001 rules, he wouldn't have finished 6-6. Reality trumps warm fuzzy thoughts.
