Is Caleb the first ever to win a Heisman first year at his school?

Joe Burrow is a famous transfer But he was at LSU two years.

Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray same. Multiple years, transfers.

I don't think a true frosh has ever won. Jameis Winiston and Johnny Manziel were both redshirt frosh. At their schools and systems two years. Tim Tebow was either a true or RS soph. So. Same. Mark Ingram was either a RS or true soph all at Bama.

Tebow in 2007 or so was the first non Junior or Sr to win. So going back before him for a comparison is pointless.

I am trying to find a comparison to:

anyone who has won the award their first year at a school.

anyone who has won the award in their second year of CFB

Any coaches who have coached a Heisman winner in their first year at a school.

Thinking in many ways he may be the youngest, greenest Heisman winner ever.

And yes, I get that he ran the same system, same head coach and his coach is possibly the greatest QB coach in history. But the other stuff still stands.

Doesn't answer your question, but I believe he is the first Heisman winner to paint his nails. Does that count for anything?

I am thinking he is the 5th or 6th Heisman winner to win in his second year of school.

First to win in his first year at a school. I would not be surprised if a JC transfer had won for someone. But I am going with it until I know differently.

Am also going to guess Lincoln Riley is the first first year coach at a school to win one, but come to think of it, I think Tim Brown in 1986 won in that troll Lou Holtz's first year. So there are probably others.

Riley is the first coach to have 3 QB win it. And thus IMO surpasses Norm Chow as the greatest QB coach in history. Given the longevity of each career, that's a little unfair to Norm. But Riley's ability to elevate QB's to the top tier of the college game is pretty amazing.

That's ewhat my post says, yes So did Jameis Winston. And Tebow was either a RS or true soph. Not sure about Ingram None of them were at their first year at the school though.
