Is Daniels better than Penix?

I see that Daniels is the favorite to win the Heisman, FWIW. Is he that much better than Penix?

I've only seen Daniels play once this year, against Ole Miss, and he was very good. I've seen Penix play several times. He sometimes makes mistakes, but he's got a hell of an arm and makes plays when it really counts.

I know some will say that a SEC QB will win it over a Pac 12 QB, because...because. Probably, given the hype machine. But UW is in the playoffs, definitely because of Penix. LSU is...not in the playoffs. I'm sure the SEC apologists will say it's because LSU had a tougher schedule, and that's probably true. But UW had to beat Nike twice, and that's no small feat.

I think the Heisman voters will give it to Daniels because he's black.

Nix is considered a dark horse at this point, but you never know. And then there is some other swinging dick whose name I've forgotten.

Without Daniels, LSU is a sub .500 team. Penix is good but JD was LSU's leading passer AND rusher.

Even in a down year, SEC is still stronger than the Pac-12, especially at the top. UGA/Bama/Ole Miss/LSU/Missouri > UW/UO/Arizona/Oregon St/Utah

You just stated that he stunk in the PAC and exploded in the SEC...but in reality his numbers in the PAC were damn good anything but being terrible. His numbers with better coaching and better players in the SEC along with maturity got better...woo hoo big surprise tht a talented kid got better in his fourth and fifith year...when all indictions after his freshman season he would be a stud...and that has nothing to do with the SEC...like I posted put him at USC with Riley and he puts up those kind of numbers...

Daniels is not a fraud. His numbers show his value to the team, and if the award is given to the most outstanding player in the country it's hard to argue against what he's done for them. LSU had an issue similar to ours where their defense just wasn't very good and Daniels had to play lights out in every game to give them a chance. ASU has been a dumpster fire for years so I don't think it's fair to hold his time there against him.

Yes, UGA and Bama were down this year (particularly Bama at the beginning) but they still have excellent defenses, and no D in the Pac-12 comes close to sniffing either one. If we're talking about losses though, Arizona, the 3rd best team in the Pac, lost to Mss St, tied for the worst in the SEC West.

No. He has better stats in a down SEC.

LSU played 2 teams of note this year and lost both. Stats are worthless if they don't translate into victories (are your ears burning, LR and CW?).

Penix should rightly win the HT. His team went undefeated in the toughest conference in cfb this year and he was the main cog that made that possible. He will be the top draft pick next april.

I'd personally give 1/2 a Heisman to Daniels and 1/2 a Heisman to Penix.

Wait? What?? Duh....of course: That's only possible in football championships, ahhhh....I see, wise man..... 🙄

Joking aside, I'd probably give a full Heisman to Penix this season. However, I think going forward in 2024, a Heisman should unofficially ONLY be available to a player on a team that makes the 12-team playoffs...

Make the arguments that favor the SEC. Thats what they always do.
