I'm only half-kidding. Seriously, though, it sounds like something you'd see on a Saturday Night Live skit, where someone is offered something akin to a kick in the nuts, and they just smile and accept it because it's the only game left in town.
Kudos to Oregon and UW for getting the fuck out of Dodge. While I would have preferred they stay out of the B1G, there is NO ONE who could blame them for leaving the Pac 12, even if they're only getting partial shares.
Jeezus, is ANYONE who doesn't already have Apple iTV, or whatever the fuck it's called, really going to sign up for it in order to watch a Pac 12 game? Imagine two dudes, Bob and Ted, sitting on their asses on a Saturday afternoon, drinking beer, watching CFB:
BOB: "What games are on?"
TED: "Let's see...looks like Purdue-Michigan State...Clemson-North Carolina State...Alabama's playing Mississippi State...TCU-Kansas...and...oh, Oregon is playing Stanford."
BOB: "Yeah, put that one on. Oregon has cool uniforms."
TED: "Oh, you need an Apple subscription."
BOB: "Really? Okay, fuck that. What time does the 'Bama game start?"
Yeah, even though Nike has all the money in the world, when you're out of sight you are definitely out of mind. I can't imagine any team willingly accepting that bullshit deal. And Nike can afford the reduced share. For Washington's sake, I hope they can afford it, too.
Lol.
I still say the Media companies lowballed the PAC to spur expansion.
PAC schools have taken the original low ball of 25 mil all on ESPN. But stupid George said he could get 50 on the open market
