The next year the offense averaged over 100 ypg more and almost 10 pts ppg more. "Peaked" means the top for most people with an IQ higher than 80. So, no...2004 was not the peak. Dummy.
Remember....2 years before this game we blew out hottest team in Country (Iowa) led by the guy who finished number two in the Heisman race. (also at the Orange Bowl).
Then the next year we went into the last week of the regular season the clear number #1 and blew out Oregon State. Results were sent into George Michael Sports machine and USC was inexplicably pushed down to number three. This was the First time the number one ranked team was downgraded after an actual win in last game of season. USC was fortunate to then play the great number 4 ranked Michigan team, who they soundly defeated in a great Rose Bowl highlighted by Mike Williams to Matt Leinart. Yes. MW to ML. 😂
This was the lead in into the subject season culminated by the blowout of an Oklahoma team led by big game stoops, a former Heisman Trophy winner and unquestionably the best running back in the country Adrian Peterson. They were supposed to humble us. the game was over by halftime. USC was unquestionably again the Premier college football program in the land.
We thought it was going to be the Texas game. Would've been a three peat. But hands of Stone Ting brother perpetuated the asian fb player stereotype and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. That and Vince Young was bigger than anyone we had on defense. I was there. Dude was unreal as an athlete playing quarterback. Also, Pete Carroll's give up the underneath stuff to avoid the big plays downfield was Taylor made for Vince's skill set.
Bush's lateral fumble didn't. Nor did Lendales on 3rd down
I can't speak for Oregon but it takes duffel bags of $50k to amass 5-star recruits and UCLA has never had rabid boosters in ANY sport who pay recruits like that.
Gilbert never gave money to a recruit. Ever. He allegedly gave clothes and pot to veteran players whom he befriended. Those are the facts.
Also, look up Raymond Lewis. His story obliterates this false narrative that sc fans patheticling to. The best player ever to come out of LA goes to.....Cal State LA. Man, imagine a 5-star QB out of OC spurning SC for Fresno State because of $. Haha. Would never happen.

Norm Chow was USC's OC in thisgame....calling these plays.......
Watch our Offensive Line block....flawless vs OU's blitzes....pass blocking was textbook.
Wasn't that game vacated for Bushgate? 20004 too?
Think you need to go back to 78 for peak
Without question. At least in my adult lifetime.

no
whenever SC gets cloese to peaking the NCAA shows up and shuts everything down
summer jobs
agent tampering
all no, no's if you're SC
if you're bama, domers, lsu, fsu, michingan, etc. not so much
pay to play is the norm for all schools not USC

Norm Chow's last game as the USC OC. Coincidence? I think not.
