I thought it was Rick Caruso and Mario Lopez who were pulling the strings and running the USC athletic department from a secret bunker in the basement of the American Girl Doll Factory at The Grove? They are not doing a very good job.
If so he has been doing a better job than the people running UCLA football
I think they probably will. Nobody gives a shit about the scandals anymore, so I'm thinking they'll pony up for a top coach without worrying about fallout from the media or the do-gooders.
I posted about Harvey Hyde in another thread, and he was pretty much spot on when he recently said on The Peristyle podcast that USC football really is a quick fix. Most programs take years to re-build, but USC could do it in nothing flat. It only took Pom Pom a little over two years to win a national championship. He wasn't a big name, but he proved that the right coach can do it quickly at USC. That's the unfortunate truth for the rest of the conference.
Hyde said that Cristobal could win a national title faster at USC than he could at Oregon. Think about that for a minute. I think he's right.
