@DayStalker Short Stalk has, for once, accurately portrayed something...to wit, the typical unimaginative alty response....Even a blind squirrel finds the odd acorn, say Short Stalk.
Oh yea Deon Hollins I would have never thought of him. Didn’t he also play OLB too? Graham was a really good defender. Mora definitely had some great players while he was there, thanks for looking those guys up.
I believe you’re thinking of Bruce Davis and yes he created havoc all day against that SC team with his quickness at the DE position. UCLA beat that heavily favored Carroll team 13-9. Not to be confused with another Bruce Davis who played years earlier for UCLA on the O-line drafted by the Raiders.
No, not Davis. Davis played quite a bit earlier than the kid I'm thinking of, who ended up playing for some of the Mora teams -- by which time Davis was long gone.
I'll do some digging and see if I can find his name.
@rwc1952 I did some digging and his name was Deon Hollins, from Houston. But I was wrong about him being a Neuheisel recruit because he came to UCLA in what appears to be 2013, after Mora was already head coach.
Hollins wasn't a world-beater, but he did develop into a pretty good change-of-pace edge rusher. And he was a lot smaller than either of the two kids coming in next fall.
Another decent undersized edge rusher for the Bruins, from a little bit earlier, was Keenan Graham.
My first impression is that these guys are undersized. In the pass-happy Pac 12, that might not make as much of a difference if they can indeed provide pressure. But that's a TBD "if."
I'm reminded of an edge rusher that UCLA had a number of years ago -- I think he was a Neuheisel recruit but finished up with Mora. He was a really skinny kid but really quick, came from a Texas high school. I can't remember his name.
At first he was just not providing much on defense because he was too small and was getting buried. But eventually he improved and then started to become an asset by the time he was an upperclassman. I remember in one of the USC games he came off the edge and pressured the 'SC QB into throwing a key interception, but I can't recall the exact game (circa 2012-14?).
Anyone remember him? Maybe these two new guys can become that kind of player.
Was thinking a little bit, which for me is kind of dangerous, and I wonder how it would work if one day there was a mammoth set of Siamese twins that were built perfectly for playing OL. One wide set stance of two tree-trunk legs, feet slightly turned out but not enough to get pused back easily, and then a right twin and a left twin sprouting out the top, each with two arms, the inside one 6-4 and the outside 6-7, both combined like 365 lbs. Think of the pass protection. With all the hormones in chicken and shit you know this is coming one day soon. How would this work? Would Siamese twins be 1 scholarship or 2? I was sober when this thought came across my mind, which is concerning.
Re-Kaboom....hang the banner

atl got it all over his shorts again
Hey guys, apparently it’s not official. Atl says they didn’t have the grades after all.

Well enjoy your days in the sunshine but your football fortunes are about to change. In the meantime many of us could give a rip who UCLA signs.
Is this a UCLA board? Why do we see so many posts about UCLA football here?
