Too bad. I met Fassel at one of Anaheim High's fundraising golf tournaments. Nice guy. He played in a high school playoff game in 1966, Anaheim vs. Mater Dei, before a crowd of over 30,000 -- still an attendance record at Anaheim Stadium for a H.S. game. I'm pretty sure one of the Fullerton J.C. teams he played on were national champions.
He was also a younger cousin of Mickey Flynn, Anaheim's star halfback who was C.I.F. POY in back-to-back seasons in 1955 and 1956, and who played in that historic title game against Downey in 1956 before an estimated crowd of 60,000 at the Coliseum.
My dad took me to the rose bowl around 1967 to see the north south h.s all star game ,which he played in. Had the program for many yr's until my mom threw it out along with very valuable baseball cards ! & many football programs from ND @ USC [ autographed] programs. I'm in THERAPY for it LOL.
@Michael Kraus My dad threw out a shitlload of my vintage G.I. Joe stuff from when I was a kid. It would be worth a fortune today. What the fuck is it with dads? A phone call could have prevented that. Sheesh...
