Our future breakout RB's are currently freshmen. 4th and 16th best from the 2023 class. We are also rebuilding the trenches and have a couple of guys over 320 pounds. It's coming.
clearly riley prioritizes pass protection over run blocking, and usc doesn't have any real dynamic running backs right now. The former will have to improve for the B1G or USC will be DOA; the latter comes down to recruiting, but again Riley is more concerned if RBs can catch passes rather than being elusive in the hole or moving the pile. Riley has a lot to address with his coaching.
Bull...Riley had two 1000 yard rushers in the same backfield and Baker Mayfield at QB I beleive. Bottom line Riley has to rebuild this team and the offesnive line has just started the rebuild...when it gets there he will have a solid running game.
As Java posted below, Louisville saw blood in the water with a QB starting his first game. They focused on making Moss put the game on his shoulders figuring he would crack and make mistakes. A reasonable strategy. They loaded the box to stop the run and make USC one dimensional with an unproven QB. You saw our run game be ineffective most of the game but as you also saw, Moss made them pay. They went with a lot of man coverage and our receivers burned them. I don't think Moss took one sack either . Riley saw their strategy and went after them with an aggressive passing game. Brilliant. Just brilliant.,
Better play-calling and not changing up at LOS was a lot of it. If the Big doesn't sell out for the run, how much better do you think we'll be (running).
Not worried about the running attack it will be much better next year
We rushed for more yards against UL than ND did (even taking into account a sack).

Louisville sold out to stop the run. Why do you think usc connected on so many big plays?
They had a reshuffled line. And their starting rb out. Moss didn't get sacked and for sure they have something there to work on.
Lot of the short passes and screens effectively were a run game
