Surf and sand is in laguna. Nice boutique-ish hotel on the beach (sure you know that)Wind n sea had the best mai tai’s IMO. Turk’s was good for a cheeseburger and chatting up the live aboards in the harbor.

Dang Bruddah Java, so nice spending the Holidays in Kauai, Hawaii. Love Hawaii. Lived in Oahu, Hawaii for 13 years, 1962 to 1975 after getting my MS in Aerospace Engineering. We go holo holo back to Hawaii every 2 years or so. Worked at Hickam AF base. Been to Kauai, Maui, Big Island, Lanai. My wife is a local gal, Hapa, Portuguese, Hawaiian, Chinese.  Still have family (wife side) ova there and good friends (some have passed away).

In 1960, early June, after getting my BS degree, went to Hawaii for 3 weeks vacation. I had 2 Hawaiian friends from college inviite me (one lived in Kauai and the other Oahu). Stayed at their parents house. The spring weather was great, the beaches were so beautiful, nice people too + I was attracted to the girls. After that vacation, I was hooked on Hawaii. I said, I will live and work there after Grad school.

Glad I did, met my wife, daughter born there, and made Mucho good friends and absorbed the culture. Picked up speaking Pigin. Hell, I consider myself a Local Boy. The various ethnic foods were amazing (Portugese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Thai & Hawaiian). I grew up on classic American foods: meat and potatoes, fried foods, casaroles, burgers, sandwiches, eggs & bacon, ham, & BBQ. Oh, I discovered that Hawaii HS played very good FB. Saw so many outstanding players (freaken Big Boys).

If you’re there for New Years eve, do not miss out on the fire works and grind ono, local Kau Kau.  Yeah, New Years eve is Awesome!  It's just like 4th of July on da mainland..  Shaka & Aloha Bruddah.

No Philly has tons of history. Before Wash DC, Philadelphia was America's 1st capital. It is where our Constitution was ratified.

Wife and I took a 6 hour paid tour of the city (via small bus, about 20+ tourist + tour guide) and we were fascinated with the city. Philly's Farmers Market is huge and have A+ foods, all types of ethnic foods to be found. And, we were surprised, Philly has the 3rd largest China town in America (# 1 San Francisco, # 2 NYC). Ate at a great Chinese restaurant, recommended by food vendors at the Farmers Market. And, I thought Philadelphia was a clean city. We felt safe for the 2 days touring there... Cheers.

Oh, and same vacation liked Wash DC and Baltimore as well. Baltimore harbor is a very nice and great place to walk around. Sea food was awesome. Had the best Crab Cakes there.

Turks is now at the harbor. Been forever and will soon be gone when they renovate and Newport the whole thing. Half the stuff is already gone. Look for a Javier’s. A mastros etc

Yeah but it is a walk and you can’t get the ice cream home rm there if you have to walk all the way down there. Also the doors are one way. Coming up from the garage you come out on the street and they lock behind you. I know. Big problems. Good ice cream place. Hope Brustars survives. Can’t say it’s a great location for what they’re doing
