...at least on this site:
1. Utah's victory over Nike was the biggest story of the weekend for the Pac 12, and second place wasn't even close. UCLA's win over USC had no playoff (or even major bowl) implications, and Utah's margin of victory was larger at 31 points. Add to that the fact that Nike was held to 7 measly points...wow, what a MAJOR asskicking. So, how is it that Utah is only 8-3? And how is it that Nike is still ranked higher than Utah? Lastly, how is it that anyone still gives a fuck about the Pac 12?
2. Nike's loss is going to cost the conference a shit-ton of money, and that's quite a bit; a shit-ton is 2.2 times larger than a shit-load, and that's a lot when we're talking about money. I think Uncle Phil should write the conference a big bastard of a check to make up the difference. Then again, I suppose it's possible that Nike would have lost the Pac 12 title game even if they'd beaten Utah yesterday. Or, perhaps they'd have lost to Oregon State -- which they can still do, just for shits and giggles.
3. While it's true that Oregon State is pretty good, just how good are they? They beat ASU yesterday, but the Devils appear to be really regressing, and I'm not exactly sure why. What's up in Tempe? Is the bloom off the Sperm Edwards rose? They looked pretty darned good earlier in the season, what gives?
4. Kal kicked the living shit out of the Stanford Indians yesterday in the "Big Game" by a score of 41-11 -- an even larger margin of the victory than the Bruins vs. trogans. So, it's entirely probable that the Bears will beat the Bruins next week, and that should offer some satisfaction to the trogans who've been wetting their panties for the past 24 hours. By the way, that's 6 (SIX!!) losses in a row for the Indians, for those of you who haven't been keeping track, and that's good for LAST place in the Pac 12 North. So, if you think you've got problems, compared to the Indians you do not.
5. The Fighting Dorrellians of Colorado beat the Huskies yesterday. Holy dogshit, WTF happened to Washington???! I know they fired their coach, but when you fire a coach in-season, particularly a coach who is a loser and an asshole, shouldn't that automatically make the team better? Oh....sorry, nevermind.
6. Washington State is only 6-5, but they are 5-3 in conference after knocking off the lowly Zonies of Arizona by a score of 44-18. I can't see the Cougs couging it against the Dogs next weekend, but I suppose anything can happen in this fucked up conference.
7. By the way, who in the Sam-fuck actually lost to the Zonies this season???!! Whoever it is, that team needs to be lined up against a wall and shot.
8. Okay, I had to look it up, but the Zonies beat Kal. Wow, that should give both UCLA and USC hope, since both teams have yet to play Kal. However, Kal gave BYU a game (they only lost 24-16), so that might negate any hope for USC, who needs to beat both Kal and BYU in order to be eligible for the Shitass Bowl.
Well done, Waldo! Good stuff. Love to see our Bruin friends peacocking as the Champs of LA!
As for your point #2 above, makes me wonder why ALL pac-12 fans (especially those of the most cash-strapped schools like WSU, OSU, Arizona, Colorado, etc.) weren't automatic duck fans the past few weeks....?
Chip Kelly staying or going? Already have 3, maybe 4, p12 teams looking for new coaches for next season. Might be best to wait one more year?
Lost in the lost in the shuffle is this interesting scenario:
Team A had 426 years total offense. Team B had 183 yards total offense.
Team A had 22 first downs. Team B had 9 first downs.
Team A was 14/21 3rd down conversion. Team B was 2/13 3rd down conversion.
Team A had 36:07 TOP. Team B had 23:53 TOP.
Which team won?
Thanks for the shit conversion table. Now I’ll always remember that a shit-ton is just a metric shit-load.
nice write up. The entire conference is a national joke.
Maybe Utah will get to play in the rose bowl that most people won't watch. I thought marie osmond was hot when I was in 6th grade.
Mormons are nice people. Kind of creepy, but nice folks. make good neighbors.
The fact that Kal has never played in the rose bowl and it's been three dogs since ucla actually won the thing makes me smile. sc
