He just signed a long extension . He probably has found his niche and doesn’t need to go back to the SEC for a lot of headaches and the rich boosters
Anyone that thinks a coach that cheats and has the morals of turd would honor a contract with a small school when he had big time success in the SEC being one of two coaches that beat Saban twice while at Ol Miss ...would jump at another shot in the SEC especially if the boosters are willing to assist in rebuilding the program with a ton of loot...
First: If this happens, it happens. Oregon will be just fine with whomever we hire next. With one notable exception we always have been since Rich Brooks left for the NFL in 1995. You don't have 4 different head coaches (very possibly 5 including this season) win a conference championship the past 20 years at your school and worry too much about who is gonna be next... 🙂. Oregon may be a stepping stone for some, but we are and will likely now remain a national force in college football. (Much to the chagrin of our Trojan friends.)
Second: Wrong job for Lanning. If Alabama or Georgia came open, sure, then there might be some concern. Auburn? Seriously.....?
Third: Name a coach who used to be the head coach at Oregon and now has a better job and/or is doing better as a coach? The grass isn't always greener. Lanning has said as much himself.
Fourth: Even for Auburn $30 million is some serious dough....$16m for Harsin's buyout and $14m for Lanning's.
Fifth: Do you even realize who wrote the "article"? It wasn't an SI reporter, it was an editor for the Auburn Daily....lol. I'm sure he has "great" sources. When the national college football guys are independently reporting this, it might prove to have some legs. (And even then, likely it's more of a pure money ploy by his agent for a better deal at Oregon.)
Sixth: I am quite amused that many of you Trojans are so concerned with Oregon keeping Lanning. What happened to the cries of how bad and how untested of a hire he was by you same Trojans? And how this was suppose to be the rise of the Trojans and the fall of the Duck? 🤣 Oh well....I guess I'd rather have you all salivating at his moving on than praying he'll stay longer than one year.
No, LA. The only Trojan who cares about the Ducks and their potential head coaching search is me. I don’t like Oregonians, it’s no secret. You're a native Californian, so you didn’t make the list.
Appreciate all the updated info on your program… Do you have my FAX number?
If Auburn offers the going $9 mil: yr to snag a top coach the Ducks won’t match. Phil wouldnt match the $50 mil thrown at Taggart of the $90 mil thrown at Mario. He still values his money and won’t pay it for a HC.
what’s key is don’t believe anything the coach is saying to the public. They all lie Willie, Mario straight up lied to everyone including players, recruits.
Ducks are in a bad place. The top coaches want to be with premier schools. Even Chip chose UCLA over Oregon part 2. if Lanning is already looking, he’s gone within two years even if AU urn goes another direction. Taggarts family couldn’t wait to get out of Eugene back to Florida . That’s why guys like Harrington were pushing for Wilcox. Someone who is local, loyal, doesn’t mind living or raising a family in Eugene. Of course there were reports that even Wilcox said No.
maybe this is the Ducks future, A new coach every 1-3 years.
Adrian Klemm and Tosh Lupoi are polishing their resumes.
Seriously, if I were a Duck fan I'd be royally pissed. Even Pete Carroll had the grace to wait 3-4 years before surveying the "better jobs" market every January.
I don't know. If Nike is going to be part of a dead conference, it makes sense. I'm sure Lanning is looking very seriously behind the scenes to see if Nike has a plan to jump to another conference. I would be.
Joking, but thanks. Not a huge number, but do remember hearing Aubarn will be paying Harsin and the UCF guy tens of millions,,, think I heard 50 plus…? Crazy money these days
Hugh Freeze..perfect fit...winner everywhere he's coached including the SEC...and a cheater....that the Boosters should love
Six thoughts for you, my big-balled friend!! 😆

If Lanning is dumb enough to take the Auburn job Ducks won’t miss him
I'd think twice about going to Auburn. Their backroom politics are as f'd up as USC's.
