OU defense ....2021 ranked #76, 2020 ranked #20, 2019 ranked #38 which represent the three years under Grinch as DC...average ranking #45 in the country....average points given up...2021 27.9, 2020 23.9, 2019 28.3......average under Grinch 27.4 points given up per game...if the D can do that with the offense at USC under Riley USC should do well IMHO
@August West I think conceding 4 Td's PLUS a game is unnecessary to say the least.
Guess I am alone on this.
I was alone on the Pete Carroll hire too.
And the Damage Pat , burp hiccup belllllch, Haden would do to USC football.
I also don't think we would hire a supreme court judge, a coach, a quarterback or anyone else based on skin color or what "select your favorite pronoun" likes shoved up wherever.
@San Clemente oh geez…you know my politics, don’t come at me with that trash.
Giving up 4 TDs a game in the highest scoring conference in the country for a decade is not bad. 21 pts gets in the Top 25. One TD per game is the difference between 25 and 45. IOW, it’s not that massive.
I thought we had picked up a great defensive coach from UM? The HC cannot do everything, he needs to surround himself with solid coaches. I think LR is doing that. JMHO
Off your meds again? If CW picks LSU, he will demonstrate poor judgement, who needs a QB with poor judgement. It is win win. We either get a good QB or we lose a guy that would have failed. I am not saying that CW will turn SC around, it could be a 2-3 year process.
Except this Caleb William things is either going to speed up the usc recovery or set it back by two years either direction. Not sure what the kid is doing but it’s not appreciated. USC might have given up two quality starting qb. To get nothing. That would negate this whole class. I am not buying Miller moss followed by 3 walk ona. Are you?
@LA Duck That is BS based upon how Cincinnati got into the playoffs...they beat nobody except possibly Notre Dame a media favorite not a real contender since they played a lame ass schedule as well...it's time for USC to screw the rest of the PAC like the PAC screwed USC and piled on during the NCAA investigation ...and the whole deal onbn revenue sharing ....payback to the weakass PAC has been a longtime coming...
@OldHickoryTrojan That's a very sad attitude, Old Hic. I will generally be rooting for the rest of the pac, including USC, to do well in their OOC games (other than perhaps Washington 😝). If USC should stumble, however, I will smile thinking of you and your myopic stance.
That Sunday when Riley was announced as the next Trojan Football coach was a “ oh shit !” Moment for the Pac. No doubt. Stunning. USC having the immediate pop to a #1 transfer portal recruiting ranking class is no surprise. The 2022 HS class is up to #12 overall with Feb LOI day coming. As expected Riley initially attracted the offensive players first, we will see more help for the D after spring practice depth charts come out. The 2023 class will be top 3.
@San Clemente The 90s called, they want want their football back.
Defense matters….just not nearly as much as you think. Not any more. It’s all about offense now. At every level. To win today, you need to score points. Even Saban retooled his team in this direction.
@San Clemente Loose ship my arse....perhaps you read something frojm a few of the OU fans that can't get over his leaving....here is what I read....OU had timekeepers assigned to every practice and workout to make sure they didn't run over by even a couple seconds....Riley complained that this kind of monitoring was well above the norm in CFB....in the S&C room the University had someone who opened the doors and closed the doors based upon a stop watch....I guess a coach that doesn't like a nanny overseeing his program to that extent is running a loose ship. Personally I think it's rediculous and I don't think any other contending program has to deal with this kind of shet....especially the Ohio St's, BAMA's or UGA's...
Riley's offensive genius has worn off. Look at all the coaches who have his number. OU's been soft, no discipline, no toughness, and still lousy defense.

I want all schools in the PAC 12 to get better.
