Specifically Big12 and SEC West Country and the consensus is recruiting wise there are 16 top 250 kids USC had about 1% or less chance of landing they now have a better than 50/50 shot. The best news is 10 play along the OL/DL/LB/S I would say all 10 are better, NOW, than anyone we have starting for us. One guy in the Big12 said the Sooners had basically built a fence around Las Vegas and Phoenix they selected the top players the rest were left for Oregon, Ohio State and Texas He said those area are now USC‘s to cherry pick. Riley’s staff put in the time and leg work to create the relationships with the high schools. The Pac 12 had all but abandoned those two markets. The Pac-12 only came to town if they had a 5 star top 20 kid. Riley’s staff showed up to see anyone and the hs coaches took note of that.

even running the football no next level fundamentails are being taught. it’s just snap and the qb takes off. No footwork to be taught handing the ball off. Most RPO is handing the ball off flat footed. Corona Cent takes these obnoxious line splits so they cannot combo block or even zone its just my skill players are better than yours. Just need the OL to wall off the DL for 1.5 seconds and they are off to the 2nd level
Interesting take by Blair Ungulio *sp* said that the Big12 recruiting foot print the last 15 years has totally transformed . Texas which makes up about 80% of that foot print stopped producing/developing front 7 talent. Every team in TX plays basketball on grass. Wide splits, quick passes, zero development of the basic oline skills required at the next level of football. Same on D. Some TX HS teams, play 1 or 2 DL, 1 or 2 LB’s and the rest are DB’s and the offense runs a play every 8 seconds. Cannot aford to have big guys on the field. it wins in HS but is losing football as far as development goes. Eventually this will choke football out at college and the NFL. it’s the Corona Centennial-ization of HS football. 3 yard splits, every play is an RPO, single reads. Kills OL play, QB play (reading d’s, qb footwork) Route Running, everything is a fade, smoke route or Snag. the NFL now is just fade vs Man and Snag concepts run out of 500 different formations because it’s all the WR know how to run and QB’s know how to read.
no one runs post dig concepts versus Cov 2 or stick and go route concepts vs Cov 3 or 4
ucla’s crossing routes are just a SNAG concept with the backside progression (the man beater in SNAG, all SNAG has a backside man beater) to create the crossing action. So backside instead of isolating the backside cb with a swirl route, stick or fade stop the wr runs a shallow cross. Basically a speed out across the field. A foot race race to the opposite hash.
Bama’s winning TD Sat was snag to the right, but they had man backside so the wr ran a swirl route. They probably ran slants or sticks all night that time they ran snag with a swirl to the short pylon
@clem, I hear ya. But three bcs playoffs in five years? Time will tell...
Oklahoma had great talent on defense. Sent guys to the NFL. They gave up 162 points in three playoff losses. fact. sc
